i recently purchased this blade along with its big brother the becker magnum camp knife..both are high quality..but I gotta say I hated the "rhino liner " finish that came on this knife so I went out and bought paint stripper and in 30 min the crap just peeled right of very nicely didn't even need a second coat..then I coated blade with black walnut juice and it now has a very nice patina finish to it ,,love it!
I took one of these on a recent trip in Utah. Chopped, batoned, did food prep, etc. was thoroughly impressed! Especially how well it handled being batoned! I even tried to use the tip to spilt kindling and thought sure I could break it but it came back like a champ! Great knife for the $$
For those of you in the UK you will get hit for £12.07 import duty and fees, at least i was. Even with the fees the knife is still alot less than the £69-70 + del it retails for in the UK. With hindsight i wish i bought 2 of them duty and fees would have been £16.14 for 2.
Is the knife worth it "yes" in a single word.
But hey you may get lucky and not get caught for the duty and fees.
BEARSxARExPEOPLExTOOWhenever something like this goes on sale on massdrop, it does on other places as well. I know the Kershaw Emerson CQC-6 and 7Ks did.
sprk1Regarding the Micarta scales, with the larger handles knives like th BK-2 and BK-4 Machaxe, I feel that the Micarta scales make for a tremendous improvement in grip and control. They are highly recommended on those larger handles.
For tweener sized knives like this one and the BK-16, I'm not sure there's as much of an improvement with the Micarta scales. Sure, there's an improvement, but it doesn't feel as necessary as it does on the bigger handles.
This knife's handle is thinner and easier to grip, so I don't feel the same lack of control with the stock Grivory grips.
I did pick up the Micarta scales for this, but if you're watching your budget, I don't think they're strictly necessary on these tweener-sized Beckers.
Right, so this arrived today. Can someone explain why the straps at the top of the sheath aren't correctly placed? The top one is shorter than the one below. Obvious problem because of the Palm swell.
ReecepropI got mine and package was great. No smashed boxes, thanks. Also, it is a great looking knife. Sheath straps are stiff, just tuck them under and leave it snapped for a few days... mine fit tight but snapped. Sheath seems very usable to me. I need more BK's.
