I'm going to try an experiment. I just looked up the price on Amazon, and it was $65.38 (I would have to pay tax on top of that, myself, but others may not have to). So this price is clearly less than the lowest drop price plus shipping if you don't have to pay Amazon tax.
How long will it be before the price goes up on Amazon? They have a dynamic pricing structure, so a spike in hits on a particular item should raise the price on Amazon. And now that it's been mentioned that the price is lower on Amazon, there should be a spike in hits for this knife over there.
Can someone mention when the price on Amazon is no longer lower than the low drop price here?
Again, it's an experiment. And maybe why the lower price on Amazon is not necessarily a factor for the value proposition of Massdrop's pricing. I'm interested, myself, because I rarely ever see the low price on Amazon after someone's mentioned it. And when I do, it seems to be when I check Amazon fairly shortly after someone's posted about the lower Amazon price (before a spike in hits, perhaps).
But to comment on this knife, it really is a classic, it seems. I have one, and it's a good knife.
The aftermarket micarta scales are a good upgrade, though there's an edge on the micarta where the contour CNCing on the sides meets the flat part of the blank that form to top and bottom surfaces of the scales. It would have been better if that edge had been smoothed off.
I do have to mention that despite how good a knife it is, it is actually smaller and lighter than I had expected. The handle feels quite slim in the hand, even though it is contoured.
This might throw some people who might have been expecting a chunky feeling knife, more in line with the BK-2.
But it's a very solid bushcraft-type knife, for sure!

K.T.NTotally agree, the BK-16 was slightly smaller and lighter than I had expected. That being said, if one were used to more traditional-sized folding knives, for example, it might appear beefy. But compared to my BK-3, Hoffner "Beast", and especially my BK-21, the BK-16 feels light and positively miniscule :p
Comparing ANYTHING other than a full-on machete or sword to the BK-21 is a rather unfair comparison, though.

K.T.NI think that would be interesting to see but none the less if something is really a deal it should be lower than any Amazon price especially when it's not even an Amazon "sale" price. Chalk up another worthless drop in any case. BTW- its also about $5 cheaper at WallyWorld
