After our first experience with the Kai professional line, we replaced ALL of our aging sewing scissors with KaI, with a few exceptions (e.g., Gingher thread nippers). Over 20 pairs in all, including a few duplicates, plus we bought a few of their consumer line as well, which are also very good. But the Kai professionals are AMAZING scissors. I think the 12” would be of more limited interest to many home sewers, but if you cut a lot of mid to heavy-weight materials - say for window treatments or upholstery - there are few better options, short of an industrial cutting machine (think Eastman 629). While we like the Chickadee-type electric rotary shears for some fabrics, they can be fussy when you are dealing with a variety of fabric types. Manual rotary cutters are great, but will never replace good shears in a lot of applications.
Kai Professional ... VERY highly recommended. (I have no relationship with Kai of any kind.)
