These pair of shears are the best shears that I ever owned, even though I did not use them for their intended purpose, I was not impressed when I received them, because they looked boring, bulky, and unappealing, but boy, let me tell you, these shears cut through cardboard like a hot knife through butter, and I was amazed by their performance, and I would repurchase these shears in a heartbeat if they became available again.

All the bases are covered on this one... Sharp, shiney, functional, durabale, quality throughout, they actually work as advertised. Like xraysrc said below, these are NOT scissors, but rather are SHEARS. Learn to use them and they will not come apart. These shears are heirloom quality, meaning they will last forever. As a total package, these are the best shears I’ve ever used in the kitchen.

These are awesome KITCHEN SHEARS. They are NOT scissors and are designed to come apart, primarily for cleaning. They make butchering a whole chicken a minor task instead of a chore. Folks who are having problems with them "falling apart" aren't using them properly. They should not be opened more than 60 degrees. Excellent serrations and fine craftmanship. And if you need to pop a cold one, crush a lobster or stone crab claw, or pry a paint can open you can do that too. These shears cut through a lobster tail shell like a hot knife through butter!

As has been mentioned these do come apart easily. This is a benefit and a detriment. Mechanically it's easy to see how this works. It's literally just a tab pivoting in a hole with a slot. When the tab is parallel to the the slot it falls apart. This is a good feature since it allows you to sharpen the scissors (as if it was a knife) and clean them. And most importantly, the mechanism is one-piece with the scissor blade. It is not a seperate bolt/pin that will eventually loosen and come apart. These pair of scissors will last as long as the scissor blades not as long as the pivot mechanism which is the point of failure for most scissors. If you open the scissors far enough they fall apart. I personally don't think that the scissors need to open that far to cut effectively. However if you try to grab the scissors by a single handle or cut in very wide strokes or absent-mindedly play with them they will fall apart. Using them as poultry shears they cut cleanly and effectively. So it loses a star for not having a bump in the hole to prevent from accidentally pulling the blades apart. Otherwise. this is a sharp, well-constructed, and effective pair of kitchen shears that will last a very long time.

everytime I try to use them to cut something, they fall apart. Everytime i put them back together, they slowly come apart.

Excellent scissors. Opening them to use a single blade for, say, opening a package will cause them to come apart although they are easy to reassemble.

Good Design. Great finish.

My sheers were perfect out of the box, haven't experienced any of the issues others have had. The side lock together nicely with no play in them at all. Haven't processed a chicken with them but I use them for any medial task where regular scissors aren't up to the task. Also these are great for cutting cheese cloth.

I love em. They cut smoothly through everything I've tried (and I did try butterflying a chicken, so it can handle a backbone). They look awesome and are super easy to clean. I haven't had them long enough to really abuse or dull them, but I have a good feeling they'll last well.

Love the shears! Had them for about 3 months now. Heavy daily use in a busy Michelin Star kitchen. Perfect for my station and my needs. Highly recommended!

You need to tighten the center screw a little bit before they're perfect. Unfortunately it's difficult to do that given how the screw is shaped. Almost perfect.

Pretty average deal

These are THE WORST. The very first time I tried to use them to cut something, they came apart. They can be put back together, but the are essentially useless for actually cutting anything. Worst purchase ever. I'm totally regretting using a service that does not offer returns/refunds/exchanges.

Perfect kitchen shears! Well balanced, feel good in the hands, very sharp!

These cut very well but the quick release for cleaning mechanism gets to me all the time. You can’t open the scissors very wide without releasing the two parts and must handle them carefully. I nearly stabbed the dog the other day within inches. This may only be a problem for me, I am used to a years of handling a pair of German scissors with a screw that holds the two halves together.
Very sharp, effortlessly dissects a whole chicken. However, the handles of mine were not properly aligned which affects the usage of the bottle opener. Also, the tightening mechanism, while useful, is a bit finnicky

Pricey but... wow do these ever cut well! Very much worth it.

They are definitely high quality, sharp, and require hardly any maintenance even with accidental or deliberate abuses. What can I say, they are high end kitchen shears and serve their function as designed with satisfactory performance.
My only gripe, however, arose from wishing that they had some kind of rubberized grip, because if your hands are wet for any reason, you run the risk of this quickly slipping and rolling in your hands while trying to make a cut due to the high polish finish and accidentally injuring yourself or another.

I purchased a knife block for my wife a while ago for the kitchen, and of course the scissors are the first things to go. We've tried to replace them with several, but either they haven't been built for kitchen use (durability or utility) or just don't fit in the block.
These fit in the block, work very well for kitchen use and have held up, aesthetically look very nice. They come apart for cleaning, which is nice, but over time, have developed wobble in that joint, and come apart sometimes when not intended. But nevertheless, they're the best kitchen scissors that we've had, and I'd buy them again.
UPDATE: After @keantoken let me know about the spring, I took it apart, forced the split ring apart, and put it back together, and the wobble is gone! Updated score to reflect this.

Unfortunately my pair broke under what I would consider medium duty. Sliced open bags of chips like a champ, broke cutting flower stems.

Most shears are essentially disposable. These will surely last me the rest of my life.

I'm not sure if the center post is supposed to wobble around but it does. Never the less, these are the best kitchen scissors I've owned. Come apart for cleaning and go back together with nice lock-up despite the loose center post. Worth the $$.

That's strange. Maybe the ring was never spread properly at the factory. If the spring flattens out on it's own, my condolences. You will be taking it out to bend it back until it eventually breaks.

There's a good chance it was just never spread out. It was a bit wobbly when I first received it.

Have not used on a chicken yet, but looks like they will last a while and are serviceable

Really well made shears, only lost a star because I had to tighten the screw on it right away before I could use them.
