Quick question for the MD hive mind.
I plan on using these speakers as an upgrade to the ones that are in my TV, I'm using them there because I was trying to avoid having a separate AV amp just for my television setup. Would it be possible to turn off the internal amplifier in these speakers and drive them with my Vintage HI-FI receiver which will be sitting just on the other end of my basement? I have a set of speakers for the HI-FI obviously but I can foresee a few scenarios where i would like the ability to pipe the music off to this set of speakers as well as my regular ones.

TotalSensoryOverloadYou would need passive speakers, which Kanto does sell of this variant, for that to work. I haven't seen a way to turn off the amp in mine.

YakovI guess I will need to get my mad engineers tool kit out and add a passive set of binding posts to these speakers.

I cant possibly see where this might go wrong!

ZatarotI wast planning on using the line inputs. To connect to my TV I will be using the optical and for the HI-FI I will probably do a set of lines directly to the speakers and bypass the integrated amp.

TotalSensoryOverloadI thought using optical would bypass the auto shut-off during playback issue too but no dice. Inputs are fine it seems to be reading the signal downstream of the DAC at least.

TotalSensoryOverloadIf your Amp or TV has an optical output then yes. If it doesn't then maybe.
