Just listened to the Audio Engine speakers today A2 and A5+. My question is will these compare in clarity and richness? I will be hooking them up to a record player with built in pre-amp. If I have the space to house these speakers it is like why not pay $10 less than Audio Engine A2+ for something that may be comparable to the A5+s. I just want to know if I will still get that audiophile clearness.

Socom1312You should get very comparable sound quality and more depth and lows than the A2+. The A5+ is 75w per speaker I think, where the Yu5 is 40w/per, so you'll get less power with the Kanto. 40 watts per speaker is still plenty loud though, trust me.

Socom1312the A2+ is not comparable at all to the YU5 or A5+. its a tiny desktop speaker so im going to assume you are looking for a full-range self-powered speaker system. in that case the YU5 compare very favorably with the A5+, and even have a few extra features like 2 Optical inputs AND bluetooth streaming, which is pretty gangster if you ask me. since you are buying online i would suggest the Kantos for their excellent customer service alone- judging from these forums i don't think anyone has had a bad experience with them.
