What would be a good portable Dac/Amp to use with my HD6xx and Sony Xperia 1 V cell phone?
I am new to this hobby. I purchased a HD6XX and plan to use it with my Sony Xperia 1 V cell phone, that has a 3.5mm jack. I was wondering if I needed a portable dac/amp or just a portable amp and if so what would one recommend? Any assistance one could provide, would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Haz

And yet some of you people will cite quality and being so picky about what you buy, especially on the clothing drops, yet most of this stuff I see tagged as Audiophile is just overpriced junk only kids would buy or people who just don't know anything about audio equipment. Made in China amps and other low quality stuff I wouldn't even give to a child, but some people can't afford to buy a half decent amp or speaker. My favorite are anything tube and made in China; Hope burning your house down to a cheap little tube amp was worth it!
I'd say it's been a nice run, but the K7XX's I bought were so overrated. I had a pair of HD598's and the difference is so marginal, I could barely tell the two apart. So thanks for another headphone that's the same as the one I already had, but less comfortable and with your ugly branding on it. Oh, I'm sure it's my amp is why, please feel free to cite reasons that I will promptly never read. I guess I myself should've known better seeing it was made in China and not Austria like the typical AKGs.
But hey, when you're wearing your "vintage inspired" sunglasses just like your dad wore in the 60s, with your expensive shoes, and your stupid looking pants, you can put your mediocre headphones on an overpriced piece of wood headphone stand that is just all the rage. Then you can hop on to Massdrop and type out all your praise and gush on your mechanical keyboard (With no numpad of course, because screw the added functionality, it's much better to use the top number row! It's not like you have a job or anything where you'll need to punch in numbers all the time) on your monitor that you saved $50 off the regular price for.
I waited several weeks before coming to this conclusion but this site is just on endless repeat. I won't be back. If I want a bunch of subpar mediocre bunk stuff, I'll just roll the dice on one of those random Chinese market sites. I'll bet a bunch of people who shop here are also signed up for stuff like LootCrate and those other monthly subscription services that send you junk in the mail.
It is also simply not economically possible to have bomb diggity awesome deals all of the time...regardless of why MD's marketing PR machine would like us to believe. That's why a lot of stuff might not be much different from other retailers with decent economies of scale. Plus MD is still fairly young and growing as far as companies concerned.
Regardless, I highly doubt companies like Grado, Sennheiser, PSB, etc. have demand concerns to worry about discounting products to gain attention. That might be different for smaller/niche companies trying to get exposure in the community. Yes, there will be a lot of misses, but also some diamonds in the rough.
So in the end I don't disagree with you, but it is what it is. It is like Porsche needing to sell shitty SUVs to rich suburban stuck up trophy wives in order to develop and release cars like Cayman GT4. Gotta put up with all the static to get to the worthwhile stuff.
Every large, established audio company has to start somewhere and we're lucky to have a community that understands the value in the speakers we make. Not many of our competitors have the same feature set (inputs, outputs, remote, colour selection) as we do. This "no name" company also has some of the best customer support in the game, ask anyone's who's ever communicated directly with us. Listen to our speakers sometime, you may become a fan!
Don't like it? Don't use it... Obviously you have got nothing better to do with your time.
