You'd really want to be filtering a lot of turbid water for this to be worth carrying IMO.

JoomyOr you really value reliability over weight. I have broken too many of the lighter/faster filters and don't mind the weight penalty for knowing that I will have clean water. I originally bought it to use while training for an ultra-endurance event and used it at least once a week for a year. I have owned this product for a few years and continue to use it on a pretty frequent basis. It is by far the most reliable water filter I have owned/used and will gladly carry it on 13 hour adventures in the backcountry (not to mention multi-day excursions).

iamalexmHave you tried a Sawyer Mini? Lighter and faster (and much cheaper). Sure you have to back wash it occasionally and the bags fail now and then but the filter + 3 bags + backflush syringe weighs about 100g.

JoomyNo, I haven't. It looks like a solid system and I would definitely give it a try. Can't believe how light it is!!
