This and Varmilo's front-mounted LEDs are screaming for side-printed shine-through keycaps, which are impossible to find (?). I'm talking with a company (Max keyboards) to see if they can make some custom ones. CM had a model with "phantom keycaps" but it's nowhere to be found: http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/rapid-si/

wontonotnowI wish those phantom keycaps were available. If massdrop could work with a manufacturer and massdrop side printed back lit keycaps with a variety of colors, I think it would be a hit.

JosiahSladeWith most keyboards the stem would get in the way of the Light getting to the side-printed legends, but I'm thinking this keyboard and Varmilo have the right idea with the LED on the front, IF the side-printed legends were shine-through. I use my VB87 as a home theater keyboard and typing blindly in the dark is a pain when the keyboard is on a lapdesk. First-world problem for sure, but I'm willing to pay lots of extra $$ if someone would make them!

wontonotnowYea, I mean cooler master pulled off side printed backlit keys on the rapid-is, its just a unicorn in the keycaps world for side-printed fans. I think its possible depending on the board, the reflection of the surface can help remedy the stem blocking especially on a higher brightness settings. Razer latest keyboarda uses a impress distribution of backlight throughout the board and would be sick setup if it had some backlit side print keys of course with some custom switches of cherry or gaterons. :)

wontonotnowI bought the Varmilo here recently, and have been thinking exactly the same thing, if somebody would make side-printed (or, bottom instead of top of the key) see-throughs, it would be great. I haven't been able to find anything either, though.... Are these the only boards that have the LEDs below the switch rather than above? And I agree, if Massdrop did it, it would probably be a hit.

wontonotnowLooks nice, definitely based on the photos a keyboard deck that has a full backlit panel works nicely. Nice find!!! Now only we can get these puppies on massdrop since their out of stock at the moment.

joricThanks, I added your links and a couple other ones I found. From the first link you sent, looks like they mounted the keys upside down to make the shine-through look better :). Shouldn't matter to any of us buying this keyboard or the Varmilo since the LEDs are on the bottom, but it confused me at first.
Hard to tell (I'm google-translating as best I can) but seems like most are out of stock once you drill down. I started a PO for one that SEEMS to be in stock (https://world.taobao.com/item/529630603244.htm?spm=a312a.7929832.0.0.ZqYdcJ). Now I'm waiting to hear back from the sellers/taobao...almost there!

dsc1currently the status is "purchased", now I have to wait for it to arrive at their warehouse, then setup shipping (I hope). I have 2 different orders in case the one that seems to be out of stock doesn't go through. When purchasing the second one my credit card fraud department cut off the transaction, so I had to unlock it. I have an automatic translate plugin in chrome that helps, but of course a lot of the translation is a bit garbled. It definitely shines a light on how much Massdrop helps when they facilitate buying these kind of things. Feels like I just dropped some money into a slot machine and hoping things will work out :).
