IMO there is no need for the additional bit-set, the drivers are enough and rather a sharpening tool should be added. But the mat is quite useful, even the smell is horrible in the beginning.

Philip_VI've encountered a couple of knives that could only be opened by using 2 drivers at once on either end of the pivot or it would freespin. Also do you know of any decent sharpening tools that run about the same price as the bit driver set? I sure don't, so doing that replacement would jack up the price.

RelsekYeah you're absolutely right! I haven't had that in mind... And I didn't mean a fancy sharpening system, rather a stone or just something that is more coarse than the leather. But all in all I'm pretty pleased with that kit!

Wiha vs Wera for knives? Serious question. I only used Wiha, i wonder if Wera screwdrivers head is as strong as wiha? Don’t care about handle, just the tip. Trying to decide if this is worth buying now that it’s $50 with discount.

massdrop01Wera is top notch, even better than Wiha! I have a lot of both. At $50, this is a steal. I would snatch one up if I did not already have everything in it.

I'm trying to understand where the $125 of value is in this set. It feels like it should cost about half that much.

You may be right, but the price has been lowered to $50, so I feel vindicated :-P

The mat included has 2 versions. ESD or anti static and just a regular solder non ESD. Which one does this kit come with??

It's a nice kit but you can go out and buy all the stuff much cheaper on your own

I use the Knives Plus strop block and have it ordered directly from them. They make it in-house from rawhide using the same leather used by a nearby cowboy boot manufacturer, so it's a good leather that's perfectly pre-treated for stropping.

It would be nice to be able to buy some items in the kit separately. I already have Wiha tools I use and a good strop. I don't want to pay for tools I already have buying this kit.
