This is very fairly priced, particularly if you take into account the shipping required if you ordered everything separately. If I didn't already have essentially everything in this kit (other than the Nano-Oil, which I'll eventually get), I'd order it. I can't see the long screwdrivers being as useful as the handle combined with the commonly used bits, and I have a Wiha set that has every bit I could think of (and many I never knew existed) that I got for less than the Wera set. The only real downside to this is the ship date, but if you can wait, and just want a one-stop solution to get started maintaining your knives, this is a really nice option.

KL98Thanks for your thoughts, KL98. We're aiming to have this kit stocked and available for immediate purchase but an order of quality Wera tools takes a little bit of time to get imported in the quantity we ordered. If you haven't tried Nano-Oil, you should really give it a try.

KL98I should have added - Everything here is useful, and the good stuff. It's been together with care, and you wouldn't regret getting this set. But if you are on a budget, the two most important things to get is the Knives Plus strop block (basically magic) and high quality torx and hex bits. Wiha sells torx and hex bit sets that store in the included handle; both sets would run you about $30. The rest you could probably scrounge; Daiwa reel oil is $6, for example, and a decent alternative for lube. But, again, if you want it all and not have to worry about whether you got the best, this is pretty close to it.

KL98In reference to not needing the long handle screwdrivers, most of the time people will need one on each sides to be able to unscrew or seat the pivot screw,

StClaireFair point. You could double up on the Wiha sets for less than the Wera set. I still think that the long handle screwdrivers are not as convenient as something that is effectively much shorter, when working on a knife.

KL98Some knives like Todd Begg Kwaiken or Field Marshall do not have a Torx pocket on the pivot side , only on the screw side, To prohibit the pivot from turning, you just open the blade and push it down on wood or leather while asserting the pivot screw, the shearing between the pivot and the blade is what locks the pivot while you adjust, I wonder how many of you guys did not know about this trick.

StClaireThat's very helpful. I try to avoid knives with a free-spinning pivot or at least some way to prevent the pivot from turning with a bit. I had heard of the lock-tite method before, but not this (which seems a lot easier).
