Looking at the recent amazon reviews for these sandals are a bit disconcerting. Many reports of the heel stitching coming apart, apparently the quality has gone done significantly in recent years. I almost bought a pair for $60 on sale last year but got 'cold feet' after reading the reviews.

I have a pair of the Clearwater CNX, which I find to not be soft enough on the foot. Are these Newport H2 sandals any softer on the feet?

I love these for day to day sandals or for going to the beach. But if you are in a river with a rocky bed, you will get rocks in them and it will hurt. Get closed back sandals if there will be any rocks.

H2's are the BEST big river sandals. Pain in the ass if you get a pebble underfoot and its trapped, and they stink pretty bad after wetting/drying, but for the most part these are outstanding and highly recommended. Still have my first pair from 10+ years ago.

tipsymcstaggersOne tip that worked with mine... if they do get to stankin'.... after washing/scrubbing them, but them in a plastic bag, and put them in the freezer to kill whatever might be left. I've done this 2x with mine, and it seems to last a very, very long time.

Wow, I've had these KEEN Sandals so long I would have thought they were no longer made. These are probably slightly different/new model, but look identical to mine.
These are the only sandals I still own, other than house sandals. These KEEN sandals are awesome, wear them with socks and they are like shoes, but ventilated, so better than shoes.
Anything less than $100 is a great deal.

ConsumerAdvocateI’ve had three pairs of these. The most recent pair were significantly different (and inferior) in fit and materials than the first pairs.
