I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it whistled. Without that, I'm certain to burn the house down.

I like the idea of this, because we have bought multiple tea kettles in my house. (I'm not interested in camping/ lightness; I am interested in keeping my tea-drinking wife happy.) However, unless it has a whistle, it's going to be a hard sell. Has anybody done that? Think it can be done? I think it can based on research...

I have received mine, and the small kettle fits into a Trangia 25 cookset. In fact, it is a bit loose, and you'll want to wrap it in something to prevent scratching of the pots. I am able to pack the cookset up completely with the kettle included, and the pot gripper and alcohol burner will fit inside the kettle with some room to spare. The length of the pot gripper is about the longest you'll be able to get in and out, so size your utensils, lighters, etc. by that.
However, the kettle isn't wide enough to stand on the 3 feet provided in the windshield. I have the 3-sided add-on rack for using small pots with the cookset, and with that, the kettle is held securely.
The small kettle does not fit into the 27 cookset. It is too large for the small pot, and just barely can be forced into the larger pot, but it won't sit down below the curve of the side, and will be very difficult to remove if pushed in, and will not sit low enough for the cookset to be packed up. Turning the kettle over so the curve matches the curve of the pot will not help - it doesn't fit inside the 27 cookset pots.
Also, the entire Evernew DX stand and alcohol burner will fit inside the small kettle, and loosely. The 550ml cup that optionally holds the Evernew DX stand (known then as the "Appalachian set") does not fit into the kettle.
I don't use canister stoves, so can't say anything about them with this kettle.
The cups that come with a GSI Ketalist do not fit into this kettle - they are too broad. My 32oz Nalgene water bottle couldn't possibly be packed into this kettle, but it does just slide in - so may be useful for thinking about what could fit. Any cup that can hold a 32oz Nalgene bottle will be too broad to fit into the opening of the kettle.

I think the design team may have committed a faux pas, here.
In the description, both kettles are specced at 5.5 inches in diameter.
Yet in the combined photo, the larger capacity 1.5L kettle clearly has a smaller diameter.
It‘s a case where the design team shrunk down the image of the larger kettle to make the photo more aesthetically pleasing and balanced, and not lopsided.
But the images in that photo are not true to the real relative sizes of the two kettles, and is the root of a lot of the confusion.
As it stands, the 1.0L kettle looks significantly larger than the 1.5L kettle.
You can clearly see, however, that in the photo the base diameter of the 1.5L kettle is smaller than that of the 1.0L kettle, when they should be the same.
Which makes everything else about the 1.5L kettle look smaller than it should compared to the 1.0L kettle in the same picture.
Unfortunate. The picture is really misleading and confusing.
Note: They have fixed the photo!
So much easier to tell which kettle is which.

The photos shown are swapped. Both kettles have the same diameter - 5.5", and the difference in capacity comes from different heights. The 1.0L kettle has the stubby triangular spout, and it's aspect ratio shows a lower height. The 1.5L kettle has the pronounced spout, and it's aspect ratio shows it's taller at the same diameter. I am expecting the 1.0L kettle to fit in my Trangia 25 cookset.

bcw1000For anyone who is uncertain about this from looking at the one 'combined' photo in the Description, look at the other photos. The photos of the side of the kettle show the logo and the words "Keith", "titanium" and below that clearly also state the capacity - 1.0l or 1.5l.

I'm confused when I am looking to join. The 1L shows as the 1.5! With $15 upgrade? I am sure this is a mistake. Can I get a affirmative ?
