I'll stick to my SlingLight, thank you. For just less than double the weight (19.2oz) I have a backrest AND headrest. It IS starting to get older, though, so If Danny could come up with something similar (to the SlingLight), there's a chance I'd be in.

KitCarson61Hah, you know I'm reading all of your posts :) I'm working on chairs right now, but I can't say we've had any breakthroughs yet.

KitCarson61I keep wondering why no one makes a SlingLight design anymore. Original SlingLight designer/maker is not making any more, and Crazy Creek stopped years ago. The design could be modified to avoid trademark issues. Or use Ti to really change things up.

GeeTeeHEvery now and then you can find one on eBay or gear trader, but it's rare and they don't go for cheap. It's that piece of equipment I ALWAYS take along as my one "luxury" item and am ALWAYS envied by the others I backpack with when I have a seat, lean back, pull my hat down over my face and am able to nap for a while. There have been times I've cold camped and left the entire kitchen kit behind so I could take that chair and remain under 20lb fso weight just to prove it could be done. Of course, there are some GREAT cold prep foods out there, now, but I DID miss that morning coffee. Still took the scotch, though, too. OK, two luxury items.

KitCarson61I have only come across one person camping with that chair years ago, I didn't get to try it myself, but it does look very comfortable. I do a lot of hammock camping, that gives me a very comfortable seat. But when I tent camp I do like to take a chair if I'm not going light. What model is that SlingLight chair at 19.2oz? I can only find a listing for them at 18oz plus 4oz for the headrest,.. 22oz total.

Flashman Wow, now that you mention it, that sounds correct about that 18+4=22oz part as I haven't weighed this chair in years and may have gotten some figures mixed up in my head over the years. No telling where I got the 19.2oz that I've been quoting for years, but even at 22oz, that only makes it a little more than double the weight and that's 11.5oz I'm more than willing to carry for full back and neck support. Now, I'm going to have to go weigh that chair. : ) Been meaning to do that for some time, now, but just haven't had a good enough reason, I guess.

KitCarson61Yep, the slinglight is not the lightest chair by today's standard with a chair now at 1lb. , but it was way ahead of it's time and for that extra weight you get a headrest,. still might be the only lightweight camping chair that does that. I'm surprised they stopped making it,. I'm sure it's not a very big market, but they did not have many competing with them, it's a well thought out chair.
