I had occasion to use mine, attached to a pole, as a make-shift spear after my Beechcraft King Air C90GTx suffered a catastrophic engine failure over Welling Channel, just off the coast of Cornwallis Island. Fortunately I was able to preform an emergency water landing and grab a few necessities before she sank in twenty-fathoms of ice-cold water. After swimming six miles to shore, I found myself on a rocky beach strewn with driftwood.
