The Magister Light retails for $488, not $880. Might want to get that fixed, or at least reflected correctly, with the upgrade option, etc

Llspoon"Note: This drop is for the Magister Lights. At checkout, you can upgrade to the Magister Standards (+ $350)."
And you're not looking at this drop.

echinekoWhen this drop first happened, it didn't mention anything about the Lights... So yes, *now* i'm wrong.
echinekoStill makes me laugh how many of you comment on a completely pointless number that doesn't matter in anyway when making a decision to buy something or not.

LlspoonThat mention was there when I posted my first comment, that's WHY I posted it. So you've been wrong from the start.

ElectronicVicesAn inflated MSRP makes something seem a better deal than it actually is. You think it's pointless, that's your opinion. I think it absolutely does matter when determining if something is worth buying during a "sale"

LlspoonCheers, dude.
echinekoIf you're using MSRP/List Price/etc. in your purchasing decisions you are doing it wrong. This is a suggested price set by the manufacturer NOT a price set by the retailer/reseller. There is zero obligation to sell at MSRP and very very few items actually do so. Instead of fixating on the MSRP you should really be taking into account the "retail" or "street price" of an item (price it has actually been sold for). This can be determined by a quick google search as well as tools such as this: http://camelcamelcamel.com/
Also do not confuse MAP with retail price. MAP is the Minimum Advertised Price and is the reason you have to "add to cart" to see price on several sites. If a retailer advertises below the MAP they could lose their distribution/authorized seller status.
There is no room for argument here, you have no ground to stand on, other than ignorance of pricing models and terminology.

ElectronicVicesThat's a nice wall of text there, but smug as it may be, you ignore the following:
1. Massdrop is obviously going off MSRP to try and make it look like a deal, and it's not me who decided to base my judgement on this. 2. Even given this, they should at least provide the correct MSRP, and not try to exaggerate the value further.
As I said previously, inflating the MSRP to make it seem a better deal is what I take issue with. Coincidentally, I also haven't seen these particular models selling for less than MSRP (outside of seasonal sales) elsewhere, have you?

ilikeit1No, MSRP stands for Manufacturer SUGGESTED Retail Price. It's quite common for products to be listed for less 24/7. That said manufacturers can do things to enforce pricing on companies selling their product. I know of a chair company that never allows sales(xmas or otherwise), so the only way around it businesses have is selling it with a free gift, in that case free foot rest.

MooTatersOk thanks
echinekoAll they did was list the full MSRP of the Magister headphones, they are/were offering both versions so there was never an exaggeration to begin with. I know "too many words"... you probably didn't read that part of the drop description. The Magister Light MSRP is the one you see now ($488.00) because Massdrop saw the response from people like yourself. I agree that Massdrop should have listed both of the MSRP's so as not to provide partial information but you obviously have the internet so put it to use and do some research. If you think Massdrop is trying to rip you off better send some hate mail this way : https://www.jdslabs.com/products/95/kennerton-magister-headphones/ as they are selling at 899 which is a tad above MSRP.
Thanks for proving my point on "ignorance of terminology" as what exactly would you say I was "proud of". I for one would like to see actual discussion on the topic of the headphones being sold. I've stopped reading a lot of these threads because its cluttered with posts like yours which add zero value to the community Massdrop is trying to build here.

Edited to point out that "shite" reaction was from echineko and to add the best description for my original post is: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=contempt

ElectronicVicesAre you trying to say the "61% off" tag earlier was accurate as well? Because guess what, neither version was ever that much of a discount. Caveat emptor and all that, but that's surely a bit much?
Thanks for assuming I can't / didn't read the whole post as well, eh? And no need for googling smug, your entire post reeks of it. You've got the condescension down pat, I'm done here.
Edit: Yes, I think it was fitting, given your responses and attitude thus far. All I did was call out the incorrect MSRP, inflated discount % for this drop, that has since been rightly corrected. I stand by it, and will continue to do so.
echinekoI will concede on the point that the percentage did calculate inaccurately, but I would chalk that up to system limitations and human oversight as the change to the numerical MSRP would indicate. It is readily apparent you cannot interpret the true intentions of my posts and as such thank you for reaffirming my decision to stop reading these discussions. I wish you the best of luck in life...
