Copped these...I wanted to grab a pair when they were initially released by Kennerton. At the time I was also considering the more expensive Valis but I held off (largely due to weight specs). I was glad to see the drop for the Magister Pro here.

The timing of this drop is unfortunate as I just got my Kennerton Valis (which are amazing). Hopefully I can join the next one.

DancingShadeHow strong is the clamping force of your new Vali's ? What other headphone would you compare the fit & comfort with ?

KC-130Vali clamp is pretty strong but in a good way - you don't feel the weight at all and the headband is very soft leather anyway. Would compare the clamp feel to fresh HD600s only with pads that are not very soft. The real reason you feel it is because the ear cushion foam is very firm for acoustic reasons and a lot of headphones out there are now shipping with memory foam stock, its simply relative. You will definitely need to adjust them for your head at first using the screw adjustments at the sides but once you have it perfect they won't budge, so after that it's very easy to simply wear them for hours without any issues.

These look a lot like the NVX / Brainwavez headphones.

i would also like to see some test results. and personally to see them in the lighter washed wood of the stand would be pretty sweet. but 450$ with no real back round or measurements. nope.

How many little oak cubes make up that one cup? I'm not a fan of oak anyway, but the butcher block look is not helping.

Oh I know that. Laminate gun stocks are considerably more stable. They still don’t look as good. A one piece figured walnut stock looks better than any laminate or composite I’ve ever seen, even if it’s worse from a technical and utility standpoint. Same deal here.
With full size headphones, I don’t really put as much emphasis on durability or stability as I would with something more portable, or something that is more prone to warping. Mine at least, will normally camp out in relatively stable humidity, and not travel too much. It’s not a gunstock. It doesn’t need to be durable as can be and immune to warping.
Im not saying there aren’t benefits to it. There certainly are, particularly if you control the grain orientation, but aesthetically, it’s not the best look here (in my opinion anyway), and I don’t really know that these are necessary benefits for the application.

ProfessorPatI can't say that I'm a real fan of the look of these either. Makes want to cut sausage and cheese on the earcups.

rslataraYour comparison is like: I can buy a 130hp Skoda for half the price of a 130hp Audi, is it a good choice ?
Too many people just compare stuff based on spec sheets. Do you honestly think that audio quality measures on a spec sheet ?

What are parasitic sound qualities? Should I be worried about mites?!

Can't help anyone with how they actually sound, but I can say they have different drivers to the headphones everyone knows they resemble (personally my favorite set of headphones).

How is this $690 new, Is it a new revised driver over the other variants below?
Please send a unit to a known reviewer so it can be properly reviewed, $449.99 is a lot for an this especially when a headphone like TR-X00 is cheaper. I already owned the NVX so what makes this better?
Similar to the following: Fischer Audio FA-002W http://fischeraudio.com/tag/fa-002w/ Brainwavz HM5 - $109.50 https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-HM5-Studio-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B006MA9XXM NVX XPT100 - $79.99 https://www.amazon.com/NVX-Over-Ear-Headphones-ComfortMax-XPT100/dp/B0093PVTPS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1528735390&sr=8-1&keywords=nvx+headphones

rslataraIn the description it says titanium drivers so you can safely assume the tuning is heavily modified, plus wood cups and additional metal.
