Swanten32People spend worse amounts on shoes, clothes, jewelry, and other bizarre things. $2k on something like this isn't that wild by comparison. Hell, even compared to the car tuning scene, prices are much more absurd for little to no gains.
RojasTKDNot a stamp collector but I can tell you generally if an old stamp is worth 7k, that is a serious investment which is real & generally goes up on minimum average 2 times each generational owner, this doesn't factor in rarity, condition, sentiment, etc
In some cases, some can be loaned &/or insured out to museums & the like for a retainer fee (usually anywhere between 10 to 30%) so the owner can actually make money from their 'old stamp'
In general, stamp & coin collecting are almost as secure if not more in some cases, than investing in gold bullion, due to market stability, etc
PaganDYeah, true... but i still don't care about stamp collecting.
My point was if you not into something or passionate about something dropping X amount of money into it can seem very odd to some.
