People don't like speedsafe because it can fail, the metal torsion bar can break. You can deassist it if you wish, just use a t10(pivot) and t6 driver for the rest and take it apart. Speedsafe is useful(also legal in most US states) , which is why KAI knives keeps making knives with it.
