It's cheaper on Amazon and eBay. What a pointless drop.

CurmudgeonI see it for the same cost. But, may be due to shipping and where you live that it's more.

CurmudgeonLink please. We always check Amazon before launching a drop, and I just checked again - don't see anyone with a lower price, but I'm happy to look at any listing you post a link to. If we're not offering the lowest available price, we can get in touch with the vendor and try to make an even lower drop point available. CC: @Wavester @Toddes @KnifeGuy @DrivenUnder @Mammoth

DrivenUnderThis. Massdrop should probably consider shipping when setting up price points. Otherwise most of these are pretty pointless. Cool, but pointless.

MammothHey @Mammoth, you might be surprised to know how much time and consideration is given to shipping prices around here. We basically operate under the assumption that everyone has Prime when we look at whether we can launch a drop and offer the lowest available price, even though that's not actually true for all members.
Sometimes [the World's Largest Retailer That Is Named After A River] has really low prices. Sometimes those prices even change between when we check them and when a drop launches; pricing algorithms and global marketplaces are weird like that. When we're given information that an identical item is available somewhere else for less, we usually contact the vendor and try to work out an even better price - even if, in cases like this, almost 100 members have found the price is attractive enough to join the drop already.
So join me in thanking @DrivenUnder for sharing the link. Because of the comments from you and others, we've been able to make a lower drop point available. I hope I've been able to answer your respective concerns, and that everyone who has already joined will get an even better price now that others are more likely to join the drop! Thanks for voicing your opinions - at the end of the day, that is always what drives us.

JonasHeinemanI wasn't saying you guys don't work hard, I know you do and I'm a huge fan of the site but in cases like this and (for me at least) the long wait times to ship the products, it just doesn't seem worth it. Most of the stuff on here is for fun and non essential. So if something catches my interest I have to decide if I REALLY want to wait to get it or if I'll move on to something else by that time. I say this because even with the new $2 lower price we still have to wait a while before it even ships. Just going by some of the comments on a lot of drops I've seen, I'm not the only one that feels this way. Once again, I really appreciate all the work done to save us us money (I know I've saved a few bucks myself) so thank you! And thanks @DrivenUnder for the link.

MammothWell said. I am one of those members who also have Prime. I can have it in my hands before the weekend, and all I have to do is mull over paying $2 more.
I am also a big fan of MD, and I do look forward to items such as this. I have purchased a few things that I really don't mind waiting a while for in exchange for a lower price.

mrheadYou and @Mammoth both said exactly what I have noticed and felt about this site in general. While some of their deals do offer a decent savings, I've found that most of the time the savings is negligible. The one thing I do have a huge issue with MD about is that they charge shipping for EACH item in a given drop - so if I were to purchase 3 of these knives, I'd be paying $4.75 each time, even though the items are all shipped together at once. I don't know how someone can justify charging shipping for multiple items that are made in one order, especially when they deliver the multiple items in one package.

ClaytonatorI agree with you about the shipping charges. It makes no sense to take advantage of members to charge multiple shipping charges for items shipped at the same time. ..I would like to hear how that is justified !
