We've remained in contact with the vendor regarding the group's order and they've informed us that majority of the individual packages have now shipped out to you. However, we've just learned that there seems to be a small backorder affecting members who selected the green option. Rest assured, we are coordinating on this closely with the vendor and hope to have the remaining units en route shortly. We will update the group as soon as they're on the way too.
We are thankful for your continued patience and you can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 2/5 or earlier if anything comes up.
We've been in touch with the vendor and they've let us know that they are still working to gather and package the group's order for individual shipment to each of you. It's a go! The order for the Kershaw Blur Tanto CTS-BDZ1 Blade was placed just after the drop came to an end. Now our vendor will be working hard to prepare it for shipment to each of you.
As soon as we receive word from the vendor about the shipping schedule, we will update you all with that information.
Look forward to another update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 1/25 or earlier if anything comes up.
HI Folks, Speaking with our vendor today we are dropping the threshold a little to make this one work. Thanks to those who have already joined this drop!
When international shipping can be solved, I would like to get 1. I learn that CGW is a great shipper
Hi folks, We would like to see this become successful, we are close to pushing this out a few days. Thanks to those who have already joined this drop!
Can anyone indicate what CTS-BDZ1 compares to?
swm37
Similar to Sandvik 14c28n. It should have slightly better edge retention and will take a fine, razor like edge. This knife is really sharp thanks to the blade steel/hollow grind combo.

That's really interesting, thanks.
Hi Guys, Sorry for the confusion, I had this scheduled for a noon launch as we were working on some photos. We will have this up shortly.
I just got an email containing this product, yet the drop shows up as 'inactive'...what gives?

Same here.

Is it already being shipped? I got a tracking number but it doesn't work.
Great news! The group’s order was picked up from the vendor and is now on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Given the tracking information provided, our warehouse team expects the shipment to come in by 9/28 and will be ready to get the order repacked and off to you as soon as it comes in.
Occasionally the shipment experiences a delay en route, but rest assured that we will keep the group updated throughout the entire process and let you know if something causes it to be set back.
We are thankful for your continued patience and you can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 9/29 or earlier if anything comes up.
I own the black partially serrated version of this knife. I love it. I like it even better than my clip point benchmade griptyllion which is also a helluva knife. That being said, I'm not a fan of the combo blade and I'm very excited to get the full straight edged blade. I don't have any of the complaints I've seen about the rubber being too grippy. I work in an emergency room as a nurse and I often find things are not grippy enough. The clip on the side is nice and strong (stronger than my benchmade's). My only complaint is that I can't move the clip to the other side. I'm left handed and I would have appreciated a more ambidextrous design. I'm not referring to point down or point up on the same side of the knife, but rather to the complete other side of the knife. My benchmade is better in that respect.
It’s happening! Thanks to each of you, the drop was a success and we have contacted the vendor for the Kershaw Blur Tanto CTS-BDZ1 Blade and submitted the group’s order. They are now working hard and preparing your orders for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey, where our team will be standing by ready to break everything down into individual orders and reship them directly to you. We currently expect to have everything out of our warehouse and on its way to you by 10/1.
We will certainly keep you up to date on the process and provide all of you with updated information about the order status as soon as it becomes available to us.
You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 9/23 .
Who cares about the dollar, mass drop should be about the community and helping others save as well. I bought because I lkei MD. Not just for the price

That's what I was trying to do, help others save as well...........
The rubber grip inserts are too grippy. th rubber catchs too much. I prefer my Kershaw 1776TGRYBW Link Knife with Tanto Blade and SpeedSafe, Gray Aluminum/BlackWash Finish.

I love how grippy the inserts are. This is my new favorite EDC.
I would love the purple with a conventional blade shape plain or partially serrated to replace my decade old red Blur.
All I want is a Red or Black Blur, with Blackwash...sigh. Maybe another drop will be my chance. :(
it would make sense to me to follow the guidelines most knife vendors on ebay use, they don't ship to Germany etc do to seizures Canada has to return the item if it is seized they can't just keep it
I don't see why knives are not being offered north America wide at least, even ebay is selling these knives to canada
I would be in if they were a normal color, I have no love for funky color knives.
Blur's are great EDC blades, but seriously Tanto Blade? If stabbing things is an everyday task then get it otherwise, what's the point?

you're speaking of the CQC7 w/tanto vs CQC6 w/ drop point? I have both and I do totally agree with you in that instance. However, I think a wharncliffe is really good for daily tasks better than both of the other blade profiles. The tip is more fragile but great at slicing.

Well, a drop for a blur with a standard blade just ended a couple days ago, so I don't see why putting up a different variant is a big deal.
Furthermore, I really don't understand the hate for tanto blades in knife communities, they're awesome. I've got a Cryo with a tanto blade as well as one with a standard blade, and I use the tanto far more often for everyday tasks. It's much better at opening boxes and such. Definitely not just for stabbing.
I would have thought a better deal could be had through Mass Drop on these? :( Unlocking the lowest price and add shipping and I know a place selling them right now cheaper.

But the Kershaw site does not have the Blur is these flamboyant colors.
Carpenter tool steel is the absolute bomb. Being used in some very nice kitchen chef knives and takes and holds a wicked edge. This drop is extremely tempting.
Description says "partially serrated", clearly pix indicate not. Clarification would be appreciated. Certainly will join if not

These knives have a plain edge, no serrations. Thanks for catching that, I've updated the copy.
Too bad I already bought both
This knife is a limited edition offering, I believe. I read that Kershaw purchased a batch of BDZ-1 steel to test as a domestically sourced alternative to their standard Sandvik steels. This knife is the result of that experiment. I don't know how many were produced, but unless Kershaw adopts this steel, the current batch will likely be the last in this steel.
I have one of these. I'm not sure about how the toughness stacks up, but this steel takes a screaming sharp edge. It's impressive and a real pleasure to use for standard EDC tasks. It zips right through paper like its nothing. I also read that this steel is used in razor blades, and I would not be surprised at all. The edge is that sharp.
The colors here are really not my thing, but the knife itself is a good one.

Carpenter BDZ-1 was developed for use in razor blades (http://www.zknives.com/knives/steels/steelgraph.php?nm=bdz1) and yes, it does take a screaming-sharp edge because of the steel's composition that produces fine and uniform carbides.
The "problem" with that (if it can be called a problem at all) is that it's not so good at holding that screaming-sharp edge for long, especially when used to cut hard materials. But with that said, that composition also means that you can bring that screaming-sharp edge back very easily, even with a Spyderco Sharpmaker!
I have one of these with the combo edge and it's a good EDCer. And don't underestimate tanto blades; they can be quite useful! : )
Edit: Dammit, why does the comments system truncate URLs?! I tried to link to ZKnives' steel composition graph, but it didn't work. Just google "CTS BDZ1 Zknives" to get to the graph directly.
