Product Description
Rick Hinderer’s Maximus is the inspiration for the Kershaw Decimus, which, if you’re following along, pays tribute to the hero from Gladiator. Looking at its spear-point blade and tapered handle, the knife’s name is no surprise Read More

Are there any pictures of the thickness of the handle? I need something for it to be compared to. I am looking for a small light weight knife just to have in my pocket, just in case of an emergency.

JustFluxzThe handle on mine is about 0.5". I am not about to take my freshly showered body out in this freezing weather to retrieve my micrometer from the car. I did this with a standard ruler. This knife is not light. It is listed as weighing 4.5 oz. I suggest that you consider a Leek. It opens much easier, it is lighter, and the blade is a tad shorter.

I will say every Kershaw I have received has a card with it guaranteeing that I can send the knife in for life if I want the blade sharpened at no charge.

I got this in it's last drop and I rather enjoy it, especially at it's price. I haven't yet put it through it's paces so I can't speak much for edge retention. Lock is good, especially considering I previously hated liner locks, albeit slightly stiff but I will take that trade off for a nice lockup gladly. The shape of the tang with the crossguard shape does enable it to be opened like an Emerson wave which I thoroughly enjoy.

"Easy to sharpen 8Cr13MoV stainless steel" - LOL! I bought two Kershaws with this blade steel and sent them back to Amazon within two days. I couldn't cut apart a cardboard box without the edge dulling. This steel is crap. The edge of a piece of copy paper holds a better edge than this recycled soda can "steel".

Just for the record, I purchased this from an online dealer and have been very happy with it. If I know that I am entering Edge Dulling Territory, I might swap it out for my Barrage with M390, or my Endura with ZDP-189, et al. If you are thinking about this knife, let me sit on your other shoulder and tell you how much that I like it. Mine is sitting in my non-dominant pocket as we type.

So the blade is spear tipped, meaning it has edges on both sides?

BrakeRewisOh, no. The other edge sits above the scales. Sharpening it would be deadly for your hand and lethal for your pocket.

I just got mine from another retailer. The detente it's way too strong. I hope it breaks in. If not, I'll take it apart, clean and lube it. Otherwise, I am very pleased with this. I would like to push all the fence sitters off onto the purchase side.

Thank you for your response. I took another look at my post. The word trade should have been "take". My feelings are the same as yours regarding Kershaw. I have over 15 of them.
