I have the aluminum version of the dividend, and I replaced the stock pocket clip with a deep carry version. I also have the Kershaw Leek, in aluminum liner and in steel frame lock. I also have a couple Kershaw Link aluminum version, including the House of Blades (HOB) exclusive with the S35VN blade. The 1812 Dividend in aluminum is like an improved Leek Liner Lock, though it superficially look like a small Link. The plastic scales will be better ergonomically and, as others have said, the blade tip is thin and pointed, which will make it fragile. Just, use the 1812 as designed and it will do fine. Don't put lateral or twisting stress in the tip and don't drop it while the blade is open.

This is basically a Kershaw LEEK, a little different than the leek for sure, but a good model. decent pricing. usa made.
the tip is very thin and pointy, i would say not everyone likes that, and it will break off if you use any sort of force, so just be careful in that regard.
good usa made knife and really good pricing.
420HC isnt a bad steel. its better than 8cr13mov, but not by much, its still a budget steel. i prefer it over the lower end steels tho. BUCK knives with the BOS heat treatment on 420HC are way better tho, much better edge retention. but for the price on this Kershaw you cant go wrong.

The blade/top is closely related to the leek. But yeah it's also sorta a smaller link.
Iirc they had a link in different material scales but I don't recall for sure.

anonomousI think the dividend is kinda an in between bade shape between the link and leek... But to each his own. I cannot stand the design of the leek haha. Yes they had the Link also in both FRN and aluminum, just like the Link. I like the look of the aluminum on both knives but my Links are just a little too slippery.
