Does anybody know if the *thumb disk thingy* is removable? looks like there is a screw on it that attaches it to the blade but i am not sure. Because if you could remove it, it would not count as a one handed opening knife anymore i think and i could legally carry it over here in germany (owning is legal either way).

jort93It is removable but, the wave let's you open it one handed from your pocket. I own this knife and its biggest flaw is the pivot freely rotates. I've tried the tricks of trying to adjust the pivot in the open position but it still rotates and is a pain to adjust.

jort93I've seen some custom thumb discs for this knife on eBay, so i would assume you can take it off. Personally i wouldn't because the knife was intended to be opened with it. Unless you will depend of the wave auto opening.
I carry a knife regardless of the law, I'd rather be caught with a knife then to not be caught with one. If your carrying a knife for SD i wouldn't care about the knife being illegal. especially in Germany. Never rely on police. The crime in European countries is raising dramatically (Immigration) so i'd say if your carrying it for SD dont worry about the laws. I would be more scared of not carrying one on me. Only person who will help you is yourself, dont rely on police if your life is in harms way. (it will get you killed)
If your just carrying it for edc and not SD i'd say just remove it so it would be (legal, maybe)
(This is just my opinion, you make up your mind what you want to do)
Well good luck, from Australia.

77knivesYou need to spend less time on prepper forums and more time in real life. From a fellow Australian, get a grip.

DoogieThat's just your personal opinion, Doogie.
I hope it dosent come down to using a knife in SD, but at least i have a fighting chance. You could always relie on police (tho) tell me how that works out for you. Also Doogie, dont dictate your opinion it makes you look like a child.

77knivesI've spent most of my life living in dodgy suburbs, way near the bottom of the socioeconomic hierarchy. You thinking you need to carry a knife is one of the funniest things I've read online in weeks, kiddo. Good luck not getting charged with carrying a deadly weapon if you ever use it, too... I carry a folding pocket knife with me almost all the time, but it's definitely NOT for self defence. That's what my brains, and if need be my running shoes, are for.

Doogie"Good luck not getting charged with carrying a deadly weapon" Well guess what, I do TAFE Auto mechanics course. i can legally carry a knife because it is a lawful excuse. I can also carry a knife when i do my day job because i use it.
So i wont be charged lol.
I always think of a knife as a utility then if it comes to it a weapon if need to be. Im presuming your anti gun and that to me myself is hilarious.

77knives1: No you can't. You can carry a utility knife like a Stanley knife or something like that, but you cannot carry a folding pocket knife like the one in this drop. 2: Making assumptions is a fool's errand. I love shooting. Mostly trap and a little skeet, but some small calibre rifle too. I do wholeheartedly support gun control legislation, though. In some ways the Act here in Australia is too restrictive, and in other ways it is not restrictive enough. There would be no point trying to have a nuanced discussion on a matter like gun control with a child like you however, so I will refrain. Good luck with your education, and I hope you become a brilliant and highly successful technician. I myself am a fourth generation tech, I'm qualified on heavy duty diesel, did my apprenticeship at Isuzu and Volvo.

Doogiein canada you are allowed to carry any knife as long as it's not assisted opening like spring loaded, butter fly knives ect, but as soon as you pull it out in a confrontation it becomes a weapon in the eyes of the law and can be charged as such

77knivesIf you're serious about self defence, a knife is a horrible choice from what I've heard unless you're properly trained. More likely to drop it, cut yourself or get it taken off you in a fight then inflict serious damage. Go for a police baton or a heavy duty flashlight as a bat for home defence. Deciding to carry anything for self defence is illegal, if it's used you'll be charged as you know.

JaydenLMDKI do know, and a knife is all i got. and its concealable. i know the risk and laws. Im willing to take the risk to have one on me, i dont go around nonchalantly flipping it out and using it in public. its there if i need it for edc or otherwise. Sure if i got engaged in a bad situation i could run but what happens if there is someone you want to protect? Is it illegal? yea but im willing to take the chance, Im responsible and i know what could happen. and if i do use it in SD it would only be in a dire circumstance.
sorry if my grammar is bad its 4 am and ive been up all night. But i do know the consequences of carrying a knife. and the legality's of it. I've trained in blocking knives and how to use them effectively. look up krav maga and practise it yourself i would recommend it.

jort93With the Emerson hook as part of the blade itself, it will always be considered a “no hands” or “one handed” opener. Pull it out of pocket with one hand and it’s opened.
