I personally prefer Blur more, and it's usually around the same price as this on Amazon

Nice knives.... wish they could do better on the price or make it otherwise more interesting (sprint run or something like that)

I've got a stainless composite Leek that goes with me everywhere. Great knife. The D2 edge retention is godly. When it starts degrading a bit, a tiny touch with a kitchen steel brings it right back into line. I've only had to take a stone to it a couple times a year. Only beef is that the stainless model is pretty slippery, compared to the blackwash.
I'd definitely spring for the nicer steel on these. The 14C28N is alright, but the edge retention isn't great; they require frequent touchups with a stone.
One other thought: if you haven't had a Leek, and you get one... consider removing the locking mechanism at the tip. These don't just jump open in your pocket, and not being able to open them one-handed when you need to is a real drag.
Unfortunately, the blackwash composite, here, is overpriced. Composite Blackwash Leek is $65 (vs $80, here), Amazon prime: https://smile.amazon.com/Kershaw-Composite-BlackWash-1660CBBW-Black-Oxide/dp/B00KZJLDHK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1530299334&sr=8-1&keywords=composite+leek&dpID=41DN47cUahL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Carbon Fiber and CPM-154 is a little more competently priced. Amazon's only $10 cheaper: https://smile.amazon.com/Kershaw-1660CF-Stonewashed-Reversible-Pocketclip/dp/B06XFGY89C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1530299339&sr=8-1&keywords=cpm-154+leek

Can anybody comment on the grippiness of Kershaw's carbon fiber grips, or the retention on the CPM-154? Haven't had a chance to play with either, yet.

DermottI have a few standard Leeks, a D2 Composite and the carbon fiber. Of the three, the CPM-154 on the carbon fiber is by far my favorite. It's as easy to sharpen as the Sandvik on the standard Leek (and takes a HELL of an edge) and keeps that edge longer than D2 It's really a phenomenal steel. Keep in mind that this is CPM-154 (powdered steel) and not 154CM.
The carbon fiber on the Leek has kind of a matte feel. It's smooth, but is "grippier" than the steel or aluminum handled Leeks.
The big issue here is the price. These knives go on sale VERY often. I was able to get a D2 Composite (not blackwash) for $52.50, a carbon fiber for $56, and a gray blackwash (aluminum handle) for $28 within the last couple months.

DermottMy Leek has pocket opened a couple of times, so locking is standard for me, now.

I've actually been pricetracking the Stonewashed version on Amazon to check out the 14C28N steel. I'm just concerned that they modified the wharncliffe so that the point is too delicate. I guess it wouldn't be a hard use knife anyway.
Any other knives with a 3" or less 14C28N blade that they could recommend? I know I'm going to have a good look at that Bestech Imp (better steel I know). Be careful of what you wish for! 😅

bookworm133" or under? No, I think the Leek is about it. But you're absolutely correct: the tip of that blade breaks much too easily to allow it to be used for anything other than the lightest of chores.
If you'll go just a bit over 3", however, the Kershaw Skyline has 14C28N blade steel on a very nicely shaped, sturdy drop point that I believe is only about 3 1/8" or even less--very close to 3". And some people claim the skyline has the most comfortable handle of any knife theyve ever used.
Or the Kershaw Blue [edit: Kershaw BluR not BluE. 'Effing auto-correct]. is only 3 1/4", and it too has a solid drop point, a little recurved, I think.
There is also Real Steel at various 3.25 to 3.5 models, but my personal suggestion would be to get a Ruike brand , esp the Hussar. That has been my favorite example of 14C28N steel, and I've bought, sold, and bought again the Hussar four times now. The only problem is its 3.75+". Great knife and blade for the price though.

Yeah, like others are saying already, cheaper elsewhere
I just wanted to chime in to point out that the "composite" blade is D2 for the cutting edge and 14c28n for the spine. 2 slabs cut like a jigsaw then joined with copper brazing (that won't be nearly as prominent as it is in the picture)
It's a fun little knife, if you want a more delicate assisted opening knife. The composite one is definitely unique

These are all $10-$15 cheaper on amazon.
The carbon fiber with cpm154 is intriguing but available elsewhere at this price or cheaper unless prices have gone up recently. Ymmv with shipping.
