But i kinda wanna see this handle on my D2 composite blade, that would look sexy as hell next to the braised copper segregation line and the two tone steels

KavikThis guy here :

14c28n for the spine, D2 for the edge, copper paste to braise the two together
Etched in hot vinegar to add contrast between the two steels

bookworm13I've tried that with a blur. The main problem with that is that there isn't a detent hole in the blade because the knife is designed to have the torsion bar hold it closed.
The leek may be different, but on the blur the blade retention went to crap and I had to put the torsion bar back in for safety. It's a shame too, because the action was very smooth, it would've been great with a detent of even moderate strength.
I'd imagine you could try to drill a detent hole, but that would be far beyond what I'm willing to do to a knife.

Which reminds me about the one other thing I don't like about the knife; that it feels like it's really designed for tip down carry IMO. It seems like the tip up configuration was an afterthought with how much it sticks up out of the pocket in that arrangement, given the space needed to pull it away from that safety switch.

KavikI would love to see an updated leek. Unassisted, lose the unnecessary tip lock which would allow for better clip placement... Hmm maybe I don't actually want a leek. I do love the overall look and particularly the thin stock and grind.

14themoneyAt the time it was the uniqueness of the blade construction that got me to pull the trigger on it, hadn't seen anything like it before (and don't think I have since either) And they did a good job with the D2, takes and keeps an edge pretty darn well. I'm still happy to own it, just have nice options to carry nowadays

I tried to find the Junkyard Dog II. It looks like it is out of production. Asking price when it was available was about $85. Someone on eBay wants $150 for one now.

KavikPerhaps enuf people shared your opinion that it reached the non-production stage. FWIW, I picked a name out of the list and went looking. I recall having seen the name in a couple of forums, but I never felt lead to go after it. I like the way those scales feel in my hand. I have a couple of Kershaws with a very similar shape.

KavikI have that Junkyard dog 2 and love it. It was my first 'expensive' knife. I ended up buying a 2nd bc I lost my first leaving Guayaquil Ecuador at the airport. ALWAYS remember to empty those pockets and put blades in your checked luggage.

KavikI agree. My wife owns and loves a purple leek. I guess I'm just a g10 guy. I'm not big on titanium, steel, aluminum or other none grippy surfaces. I don't have a problem with those that like them, I just know what works for me. My skyline isn't a hard use knife either.
