I picked mine up at BHQ a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised from the minute I got it in hand. Detent is just right - I can't make it fail to open. Blade drops with practically no effort. The only thing that I can complain about is the uneven edge grind - something I've come to expect from Chinese Kershaws. If I can get a KVT knife at this price point, I'm through with SpeedSafe.

Anyone get a look at their new Copper Natrix Mini this year at the shows? Wonder when that will be available. Definitely got my eye on one of those. 👁

glennacI pre-ordered mine months ago from knife center. Most of the stuff I've seen has them out 4th quarter (Oct-Dec).

glennacI've had my eye on that one too, and I've told my guys at the local knife shop to save me one when they arrive, if possible. They havent failed me yet but cant ever guarantee they could just hold an item for me w/o anyt deposit. I refuse to pre-order knives (he says, fully concious of the contradictory nature of such a statement on a Massdrop forum). The one and only time I did that, for whatever reason the retailer I chose, who usually gets shipments as early as anyone, got bumped to the back of the line. Eventually I just bought it elsewhere; thankfully I was only out $20 for the deposit.
As for the copper/D2 Natrix--and btw, I'm as stoked about the copper as I am the D2; either one alone would induce me to buy--they were supposed to drop in the summer but...didn't. I've heard competing rumors as to why, including the D2 slowing down production a bit more than estimated, issues with the finish on the copper, and even simply that pre-launch buzz was so good that Kai decided to push back the launch and up the number shipped out.
Could be one of those reasons, all three, or none of the above Could also be total bunk, and the knife was never going out before Dec, they just wanted to increase the buzz.
Regardless: yo quierolo. I just wish they hadn't shrunk it, and I hope the response shows Kershaw there is a market for up-market versions or their designs.

I've been using this knife quite a bit and I really like it; there's just 1 problem. The inside edges of the plastic are very sharp. This causes the plastic to almost feel like a blade when trying to open single handed.

slysamOthers have mentioned this as well. Do you get a sense that they can be sanded/filed back without damaging the knife?

glennacIt's definitely possible, the part in question is plastic, but I have not tried.

I just received on of these yesterday. It is a very nice knife! The KVT pivot is a great improvement over the A/O. As far as the blade steel, I would prefer D2 over 8Cr13MoV, but it is serviceable steel. I have read people's posts suggesting that the Swedish steels like 14C28N would be better, but I have not seen that it is any better. The Chinese AUS-8 is OK. I look forward to the copper one with D2!
The only thing that I slightly dislike is some slightly sharp edges on the G-10 scale.

I thought the Natrix had an assisted opening mechanism or has that changed?
djprI'm pretty sure the natrix has always been unassisted and on bearings. The ZT0770 Is assisted and has an otherwise nearly identical design. Both are based on the ZT0777. I can't remember if the 777 was assisted or not.

djprThe original Natrix was assisted, yes. All new versions are manual though, and the old versions are now transitioning to manual as well.

Typo obviously. Here’s the “Kershaw” store I came across…

Which one one is the actual manufacturer? Ah, I see. Yours is not the Kershaw site, it a 3rd-party distributor. 👍🏼

glennacYep, I got one there a few months ago. Good looking nicely made cutter (except the aforementioned slightly sharp G10 edges). The blade was extremely sharp right from the box. $37-$45, regardless I think anyone would be happy with this one.

I'm interested in the sub frame lock design, but not digging the 8Cr13MoV steel.
Uh oh, I think I'm turning into a knife steel snob. 😦 My wallet will never forgive me.
The only other knives I could find with the sub frame lock were the ZT 0850 and the Kershaw Knockout.

bookworm13There is going to be usa made version of this knife called the bareknuckle released later this year. Sandvik 14c28n should be a decent upgrade from 8cr.
I'm hoping they do some sprints in s35vn or m390 like they have done with the dividend and link.

This is the Kershaw 7007CF. I don’t know why Massdrop never includes the model number!

KavikThat’s exactly what I was thinking! It would make it too easy to comparison shop.
