I have this knife... have had it for about 2 years now!! Would have loved to jump in on this drop for a spare... so sad I missed it.
Alright I got my Kershaw Chive today, but its a bit defective. When I use the flipper to launch the knife it doesn't bring the knife all the way out. only partially? I feel like that isn't right? Does it need to be worked it?
I just doubt it because I also got the Kershaw Zing and it worked right out of the box perfectly
DoubleSushii
carry it for a day. use it. it cleans up. mine was also sticky out of the box. i am betting yours is already working fine...

Not much of a deal here...
No option for shipping to Australia. Sigh

Cheaper with less awful coloring, plus free amazon shipping. What is this I do not even.

But... the knife is absolutely gorgeous! My eyes bleed rainbows from being overwhelmed with the awesomeness of this knife.
good
As a novice to this im sorry if this is a stupid question but is this considered a flick knife? Just because I will be importing this into the UK. just as a note I am aware of the law on the carry of locking blades in the UK.
Thanks
I got this for ~$33 from Amazon a while ago. This knife is perfect as a cheap beater EDC but nothing more.

The size is prefect for the front pockets, not too noticeable.

I'd still recommend it at this price.
After having had this knife for a year or so, the steel is quite mediocre. I wish I'd knew more about this a while ago, but 420HC is mall ninja grade steel. These don't hold edges very well.

That's the whole reason why I'm passing on this. I really wish it used the same steel as the Leek.
I just got home from holidays and received mine, I am having the same issue, I will attempt to remove the ridiculous amount of grease in the thing and report back.

EDIT: T6 just spins in the screws, and T7 doesn't fit. This is just proving to be a headache.
I just received my chive yesterday and I just wanted to mention that it was loaded with grease and was really tightly screwed together so the assisted function could only open the knife part way before it got jammed. I took it apart and got most of the grease out and fine-tuned the torque on the screws and now it functions flawlessly. So if anyone receives their knife and it is really greasy and doesn't work as expected there is a simple fix that only requires a torque bit and some paper towel.

It was a little disappointing to receive the knife in this condition, and I hope I am only one of a select unlucky few, but having owned two other Kershaw Speed-Safe knives (Leek's) I knew it was a simple fix.

Let me know if any of you need guidance in taking the knife apart. Don't be afraid of the spring assist as it's just a torsion bar that is not under any pressure with the knife in the open position, it will not fly apart or anything like that.

Sorry it came that way in the first place, but thanks for the great tip!

I love the knife, but I just have one question. It's really difficult to open the knife without flicking my wrist while pressing down on the thumb assist. It feels like a spring prevents the knife from opening half way, as if there's a resistance.

Can anybody enlighten me?

I've owned this knife in the past, the spring inside your knife may be defective. Contact Kershaw, they're familiar with this issue and can send you replacement springs.
