nicely made, heavy, wont hold an edge worth a shit.
etec225
Mine's holding it's edge just fine. Also if it's so bad, send it in they're good with their warranty, even sharpen it it for ya
I have several of these, have given them away to friends, etc. Everyone that I've given one to literally loves the knife. Yes, it's big, kind of heavy, and not lightning fast on the assisted opening, but it's also cheap as can be when you get it from the right place. I got my last one from Academy for about $10 on sale (I think it was around Christmas time).
So to all you nay-sayers, I say give it a shot. It's a cheap, fun knife. :)
Terrible purchase! It's NOT an assisted opener, its HUGE - not for your pocket, weighs a ton, and barely flips open if you wing it full force with your thumb. Now it's going in my bug out bag as a throw away knife for emergencies.
fuma
it's a ten dollar knife. Not a Ferrum Forge WE knife....
fuma
If you try to use the thumb stud to open it then it won't open, use your trigger finger on the nub that sticks off the back and it flips right open.
I figure it would be a great knife for work and probably won't miss it when I lose it 😉 at the price cheaper the most replacements
I just noticed that delivery is USA addresses only. But i got confirmation email today. Am i gonna get it or not?
Kershaw made in USA > Kershaw made in China. (this one is from China)
i got one of these in a massdrop stocking.
Meh
good price for what it is
4cr14? You're kidding right? You can get the pico for around the same price with 8cr. I don't care who makes it I don't buy anything under 8cr. Have fun sharpening this knife after every use.
Cracktower
4cr? At what point is it just iron?
This design remind me of movie Alien LOL
This is an extremely good knife for this price. Just saying.
The photos make this knife look very expensive. With another logo and better steel, could be easily a $100 + knife.
For $12 it's not a terrible knife. I've broken two. The blade steel is brittle but it sharpens easily. The knife is very heavy which could be a good or a bad thing depending on your preference.

I guess... depends on what you want it for. It's a good looking light duty but heavy knife. I mean if you double your budget you can get a much better knife. I saw a Kershaw Cryo on sale for around $20 recently.
paperassgasket
thank you. i guess i will shop around more, there are so many to choose from!
So...uh, MSRP shown on Kershaws own site is $29.99. Just saying.
MooTaters
Wish is in a class action lawsuit right now for advertising the MSRP of their products as higher than they really are, tread carefully Massdrop.
"Sorry, this drop cannot be shipped to ..." Ah, sorry for even trying it again.
I'm curious why shipping for two units is more than double the shipping for one unit? One knife is $3.50. Two knives comes in at $7.75. Is there a glitch in the system? Massdrop?
RenChick
Just ordered 5 as gifts for friends. Shipping was $7.75. I'm pretty sure it is just payment for a larger box rather than for a smaller box.
Steel isn't great. Sure it can sharpen easy, so maybe it's good if you're trying to learn free hand. But it won't stay sharp particularly long.
Wolfent
Bruh its a 10 dollar knife what do you expect?
Don_K
8cr.
>US addresses only REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
This is the exact knife that I carry everyday. Despite what I have read here, the quality of the steel is fine. I am kind of hard on the knife, and it will hold it's own. It will sharpen to a razor edge, and stay sharp. It is a little on the heavy side, but I would prefer that to the cheap light weight feel. It has been a good durable unit. There is one issue though. If you take care of it right away it will not be an issue later. There are a few small torx screws ( 3 or 4) like size 10 or 15. When I got my first one I did not check the tightness of these screws, and lost one. I am on my second one of the same knife now. If you remove the screws one at a time, and loc-tite them it will lock everything in place. I did that about a year ago, and all is good to this day. Oh, and if it is opening "sluggish" your tension is set too tight. It is a simple 3 second adjustment. Mine makes a satisfying "snap" when it opens. For the money this one is a win.
Tenbux1970
Where and how is tension adjusted? Is a tool needed, what tool? Thanks.
richismo
On the top end where the blade pivots there is a circle with 5 small indendatipns. In the center of them is a torx bit hole. The size is a t10 or a t15. If you loosen or tighten that it will make the blade easier or harder to open. It is just basically a tension screw.
I bought it one day before lower price- will I get lower price??

Welcome!
Ship to Canada vendor!
Quick review: Opening mechanism feels sluggish and not smooth. Blade material is meh. Really heavy. Looks cool and makes a pretty neat display piece. $12 for a cool looking un-boxing knife is pretty sweet.
I'm not trying to be rude to the people at Massdrop, but please no one waste your money on this. The steel is terrible and super soft. And the cheap Kershaw assisted open knives tend to be poorly built. Even for a starter knife, you can do way better.
PapaEmeritus
Only the "Made In USA" knives for Kershaw are good, for the most part. Then again, I have an OD-2 that is made in China, and it's been a fantastic knife for five years now.
PapaEmeritus
I had a Kershaw Asset that I really liked, the blade stayed sharp and the blade had a nice curve to it. I accidentally forgot to take it out of my backpack when I went to the airport and had to trash it.
The Skyline is similar, but these are 20-30 dollar knives, beaters but ok.
This looks to be what a prop guy for an alien movie would use, a pain to clean, aoft steel, but still heavy.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kershaw knives (bought a couple of BladeHQ exclusives yesterday) but I'd really more like to see some great deals on high and semi-high end knives (Benchmade, Spyderco, ZT, etc.) in MD than these cheap 8cr3mov blades.
Mine just got seized at customs coming into Australia... seeing if I can get them to release it... Saying it's an "Automatic Knife". I would have assumed it was ok to buy because it's a folding pocket knife, which you can buy here anyhows.
jjisthedarkone
They're half right. It's an assisted opening folder, so it's semi-automatic.
Quoted from the products description: "To deploy the blade, press on the flipper tab and it springs into place with Kershaw’s signature SpeedSafe opening system."

I decided to give MassDrop a try with a low dollar purchase to see how it went. I can't say I'm all that impressed with the delay. However, I do appreciate the updates from Tyler.H
