I would say there are a lot more than a few states where you have committed a felony by carrying this in a backpack or pocket. You will probably be ok (depending on your appearance), but the rules are written to give law enforcement and prosecutors the leverage to use these rules against you at their discretion. For example: open bottle of wine at a campsite where alcohol may not be permitted. Now the police/park police have a reason to search your bags and person for more contraband. What happens when they find this tiny fixed blade is up to their discretion. BTW what the law actually says about the legality of a concealed fixed blade is not really relevant until you sort it out in court after your arrest. Just an observation from an incident involving a group of camping medical students in Pennsylvania, but the same would be true in Virginia, marryland, california and nearly every state I've spent time in. maybe america was a simpler place in the past, or maybe not, but the world is full of assholes, so be careful about giving other people the leverage to determine your fate.
This knife is also expensive for what it is. Becker, and Izula are great. Coldsteel bird and trout could probably do everything this could do in a pretty lite stainless package too 0.8oz and $15.
