People interested in this drop should note that this manufacturer had a debacle with the kc64 drop. They designed the hardware incorrectly and keys wouldn't register if you typed faster than something like 40 wpm.
Massdrop along with keycool never ended up addressing these issues. They dumped a bunch of these junk boards on bulq, which I bought for parts harvesting
schyThat was NPKC not keycool. (incorrectly named on Massdrop but likely the same factory)
The issue also did get addressed, after nearly a year.... A new KB was sent out and mine works fine.
axexaIf I am remembering correctly, a lot of the replacements had the same issue, just to a lesser degree. They promised a firmware fix but never delivered
schyAs someone that types roughly 100wpm, confirmation from someone @ Massdrop that this has been addressed is the only way I can commit to this. I had the payment page open, and I am REALLY glad I thought to check the discussion before pulling the trigger.
kalaynaYup, I'd love to snag this but would definitely need confirmation from md that this is no longer an issue. Would be a shame since this looks like an awesome keeb otherwise!
schyHey there, thanks for brining this up.
The Kc64 from the previous drop is made by NPKC, not Keycool. Hope that clears up everyone's concern :)
Cheers,
Xi
XiK@XiK whilst it's good to know the manufacture is different, can anyone say if the WPM issue still remains? I'm very interested in this drop but as a touch typer who can reach 150wpm I would need to know if this is an issue before committing!
