After a week of use and a little curiosity here's an update to my experience with the BD005 I've gotten use to the sound signature and fit on these. My first impressions remain somewhat the same, but I would like to clarify the points I made.
1.) The BA driver is imbalanced, audibly and physically. They're glued in the stem of the iem but the L/R do not mirror. I assume they're assembled with the stems facing the same direction. (pictures provided) 2.) The DD produces great sub-bass, mids too. Main reason why I got these. 3.) Removing the cable is tedious. Where do I start... The plastic housing of the BD005 is very small and any skin oil residue will make them slick which makes gripping them difficult. Also, these NEED to be TWISTED to a certain point to be detached. There is no indicator and the L/R letters on the strain relief aren't a good indicator either as the cables don't mirror (found out the hard way and stripped my cable with vice-grip pliers). I will note this is my first time with the MMCX interface so I'm at fault too. Still works at least. 4.) Cable remains to be the best thing about these.
5.) Quality Control isn't so good. Left driver was making some fluttering sounds with deep bass tracks then a quick peek under the light showed why. Seam is also gunky, presumed to be poor repair attempt. Bought two pairs to swap the L/L and R/R for color variation, will now only have one pair with a spare for R (picture provided)
Maybe I got unlucky. I bought these from AliExpress, not Massdrop, so your experience might differ from mine. I got them for the 'fun sound' anyways, so no complaints there.

YakovI purchased mine from AliExpress as well and they came about 2-3 days ago. Mine /seem/ to be doing very well so far.
YakovI'm with you, Yakov. Though mine had different problems from what you described, they definitely appear to have been poorly made (to an unusual degree), or maybe even a previously owned and abused item that had been returned and resold. Not sure.

YakovThis is my first experience with MMCX plugs but I haven't noticed a need for a specific orientation in order to detach the cable. On my pair, I can get my thumb nail in between the cable and earpiece and easily pry them apart with an audible click. They then attach just as easily without orientation problems and give the same audible click.

BatteryYou can do it that way and risk breaking them. There's an opening on the lip on the cable end.

YakovYankel why do you need to remove cable? I read that Shure earbuds don't recommend removing cable to play around b/c it's fragile and can break easily.
