well this was a successful drop
In 1996 I bought a 85 mb flash card for the HP200lx for $2300. That's $27 per mb, or $27000 per gb, or $27 million for a terabyte. So this drive is a bargain in that sense. The key for big data users is to have one convenient source and not have to waste valuable time shuffling discs. Your lawyer charges around $400 for his services, even more for surgeons, so there a lots of people who need this. For me the question is reliability.
Insane this is. D:
Lol is this a joke
Why is this a drop? State-of-the-art storage technologies will never realistically be worth the money asked for them.
What a RIDICULOUS price! Come on, who in there right mind is going to pay close to $800.00 on an item such as this? Unless your rich, no one else could afford it......
ProStreetC10
This thing cost more than my GPU, you might as well just buy a terabyte ssd for 200$ right?
1 guy bought this? what a retard and lol shipping isnt free.

and i'm sure he is feeling good now that he as withdrawn
As someone else stated, I am impressed with the tech, and I guess if you are in the world's most unique occupation, say, for instance, someone who needs to get a Terabyte of data to a remote village somewhere in the Congo jungle, and an external is absolutely too heavy to carry whilst climbing steep mountains with your bare hands, then this is a good buy.
Either that or you're a Kardashian.
$770 and you still pay for shipping. XD
All of my Sandisk 128 gb MicroSD cards have failed. The reasons are listed accurately in the amazon one-star reviews. I do have several Lexar 128 gb USB thumb drives that have been reliable over time, so I wonder how this will hold up for users who put half a terabyte or more on it and access it daily for incremental backup.
Only 1TB? Obviously a choice made by bean counters to keep costs down. This drop is so 2014.
I'm impressed with the technology. My first flash drive (which I still have) was 128MB... now we're talking about 1TB drives... that's nuts.
But unless I win the lottery, I won't be paying $770 for one. Even if that is a savings of about $1700 (according to MD).
Elemino
It's not a savings of $1700+. Kingston is lying to you. They knew for a fact that it would never sell anywhere close to the MSRP when they set it.
Inflating the MSRP in this way is a well-known tactic used by unscrupulous companies to create apparent additional value where none exists.
gibbousmoon
Trust me, I know. I've worked many years in retail, I know the games. The ones that make me laugh are the manufacturer websites that show a MSRP, a price you pay as a customer, and they don't even sell direct to the public. Obviously the real price is the marked down price.
This is possible? Damn.
This is idiotic.
MSRP $2,310.00 haha!
Wow haha. While impressive to fit that much into such a small space, I think I can wait until they are $20 at walmart :P
I feel like this should a type C drive.. even though it isn't exactly standard yet I feel the type of people actually using this drive would have the support.
Dear Kinsgston and Massdrop, April fools has passed you're a little bit late.
I'll wait for the USB 3.1 version...
what a waste of a drop. does anyone run this site?
Next year they will probably be going for 30 bucks. I will just wait until then.
what in the hell.......
now i'm all about indulging myself with stuff i don't need (ahem...massdrop).
but this? 700 bones for a usb stick?
this shit better have a diamond on it along with wifi, bluetooth, an ir remote, a camera and have the body made out of platinum..................shit even then i can't justify this
If I buy this, it will end up being left in library, and I will cry in my bed for weeks. Or put it in a vault and forget I have this $800 usb stick. Years later, my grandchildren finds it. But by that time, 1TB usb sticks will cost less than 20 bucks.
Wow! I would love to grab one of these but way too expensive.
...Just why did we support this one /palm I'd love a speedy flash drive, just not an EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLAR ONE. sweet jesus.
Why would you buy this when you can just get a 1TB portable hard drive and a case for <100? It's a little bulkier but defiantly worth it for being almost $700 less
1TB Samsung 850 EVO - 290 GBP ~ 450 USD (Amazon) but goes for 350 USD
Considering the MSRP, anyone who does buy this and sells in 1 month, if it doesn't crash and burn will make a sweet sweet profit
I mean, I'd buy this but the shipping is a bit much.
Supertigy
xD
Supertigy
I loled so hard. xD
1ºst time i see a 1 TB pen drive. And what a expensive one. Not for me, i'm always losing them, so i prefer something bigger, and for this price i can buy an External SSD. Its bulkier, but its faster and cheaper than this.
