Hello Everyone, Lets slow down a bit here and make sure we are comparing Apple's to Apple's. You can most certainly find the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB drive for less expensive than this drive. This Kingston drive is their performance drive. In fact this drive out performs the Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD drive. Here are some brief specs.
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB - Current Price $149.99 (Amazon) Read - 540mb/sec Write - 520mb/sec
Samsung 850 PRO 512GB - Current Price $229.99 (Amazon) Read - 550mb/sec Write - 520mb/sec
Kingston HyperX Savage 480GB Read - 560mb/sec Write - 530mb/sec
It has also been mentioned that this is high priced for this drive. I can not find it cheaper anywhere else or find a drive with its performance for less. If you can find this Kingston HyperX drive for less please let us know as it gives us more leverage with the vendor.
As far as MSRP is concerned. MSRP is the Manufactures Suggested Retail Price. It is the regular price that is consistently listed on the Manufactures website. At times even the Manufactures will have a lower price listed on their own sites as they do run their own sales and promotions. As of now this is the correct list price or MSRP as it is on Kingston's website.

Tex-ArozziIt's just that I could pay 10 (less than that if less people are in the drop) more dollars on Amazon and get 2 day shipping. I like most of your drops @B.Hutch, but this one drops the ball in my opinion. It probably is Kingston being a little cheap, but still there is almost no reason for me to get it on Massdrop. We don't get internal computer parts often and when we do get it and it is an especially unspectacular drop like this, it is really discouraging to us techies brought here by computer part reviewers on YouTube (not naming any names). That is why I reacted the way I did.

Tex-ArozziHate to be a negative Nancy, but quoting manufacturer declared speeds as fact and then comparing between those, when the product that is offered is not offering a better value than the competition even in that way? Looking at even semi-decent independent reviews reveals the reality of the performance between the drives in your comparison to be very, very different.
This SSD is worth $180, for sure - at a regular retail store. But as a drop here? Not so much, no. The MSRP from Kingston is an unfeasible dream, to say the least.

Tex-ArozziNewEgg has it for $179 with free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104553
and it comes with a gaming mouse (Big whoop I know).
I just don't understand these "Deals". Woot.com started doing these "non deals" years ago and it made me never go back to their site.
