Going price is $200 for a 1TB SSD (actually even less on a good sale). Why would you buy this?

StuntzActually, Sandisk drives are some of the better ones as are OCZ. ADATA drives are just as reliable as any other. Frankly, most drives are pretty much identical in terms of reliability and performance in real-world tests. Yes, some brands will do a few petabytes more of transfers over their lives but you'll never use them that much because you aren't running a data center. And sure, in synthetics some of the faster SSDs do score a little higher but you're talking about a 5% improvement and you'll never notice that in real world situations. So... No, I had the same thought. Why is anyone calling this a deal at $287?

nikonfAll SSDs are pretty reliable these days so long as you get from a recognized brand. Most are fabricated by the same few companies anyway. Some of the cheaper ones use older chip designs but we're past the point where reliability is a major factor anymore. Even older SSDs can be expected to process several petabytes of data before they die and you're not going to come close to that.

StuntzYou're right - they are BS claims and he just can't be nice .......... he has to insult people by telling them they don't know how to use Google!

nikonfWhat are you talking about?! He is right and I completely support his statement of people not being able to use Google. This drop is most definitely not as great of a deal as you all make it to be.

TeslenkonWhat some of you fail to realise is that not everyone on Massdrop is located in the USA. For me in Australia, I am yet to find a store, showroom or online, which sells these drives AT ALL. Instead of becoming keyboard warriors about a drop you disagree with and will probably never support, how about you shut-up and go somewhere else.

scottyb105Except a lot of us ARE from the USA. And for those of us in the USA, this is not a great deal, so it's makes sense to point it out. For those of you that are NOT from the USA, and you ARE on this site, then you probably know what's a good deal and what's not.

scottyb105MWave in Sydney are selling these for $550 , with conversion to AUD and shipping to Australia you will save over $100. Wish I had seen this before I purchased a 1TB 850 evo for my laptop.
