Scammy company that hardly delivered to it's kickstarter backers. They let us wait for years and then ship a product that does not even in the slightest way look like the product we've backed and their unique feature does not even work. Customer support is nowhere to be found

I see this device as one with security issues. I’m sticking with the cumbersome published SSID, WPA2, and an AP password

If you want to build a guest network, that implies that you have the ability to deploy vlans from a switch that can keep your guest network traffic separate and distinct from your trusted network segment. Or maybe you already have a multiport firewall that separate thes two physically.
if you a guest network and the signal happens to be strong enough for a stranger to hop on, I would hope that your infrastructure is robust enough to deal with possible exploitation’s of vulnerabilies. And I don’t mean a known guest.
i work in the network security industry and I just want to share that our internet access, which I highly value, just isn’t guaranteed safe. Therefore, making it really easy for an unknown device to hop onto your private network is really risky.
i have a lot network connected devices in my home. I have firewall that provided DHCP services. For each device on my network, I associated a specific IP address with the device’s Ethernet address. I associate a name with that IP. If I have a device show up on my network using a DHCP allocated IP, I track it down. I know when one of kids has brought home a friend and gave them the password to my AP.
Getting some type of malware on one of your devices good really ruin your day, drain your accounts of money, and possibly preventing you from joining a drop for something you really want. :-)

jerladI like your whole post, but not really needed as I already know all of that.
But for this product it seems to be an extra close proximity based wifi router. Which has it's disadvantages. Sorta like those old Nintendo DS wifi routers if you remember those.

TurkeySubGood catch. Also, at it's price range, it makes sense to get the TP Link Archer C7, which is AC1750, and has a guest network feature as well!
