ThatGuy333All Kizer knives are Made in China.
Normally there will be plastic sticker written "Made in China" that is pasted on the blade.
There are some photos of this over at Bladeforums.
With that being said, I'm actually waiting for Kizer Gemini designed by Ray Laconico to be available through Massdrop
AkhyarThanks for this, I was wondering. For the price, completely unacceptable IMVHO. Made in the PRC should be about a $25-50 price point, at best. It's a shame - it's a pretty knife.
ExHackAn American-made knife with these materials would cost you $300 or more. It's absolute insanity to expect a price that low for a product of this quality.
chrisjm325I'll grant you that, but $300 SRP and a buy price of $175 for a Chinese-made product is equally insane. Although it's a bit apples and oranges, the Ka-Bar Becker/Reinhardt BK21 Kukris is an American-made blade being offered at $99 from a $200 SRP. So it isn't completely out of the question.
ExHackI think the expensive price is due to the premium S35VN blade steel, titanium handle and not forgetting it is designed by a reknown knife maker.
Kizer has some sub-hundred dollars knives that uses cheaper VG-10 steel, G10 handle scale and in-house design, but still maintaining the quality over other $20-30 China-made knives.
Reate charges 400 bucks for mini Bodegas Made in China, when a fullblown Made in USA Todd Bodega will set you back at least a grand.
I'm not defending the prices set by Reate or Kizer, but they are the premium Chinese knifemakers, and their prices tend to reflect the quality of their knives
ExHackthirty dollars for a titanium frame lock with s35 steel? I have over a hundred folders and fixed blades from $15--$500. If this knife is on par with offerings from REATE (which appears to be the main competition) , I would say this is a fair price. The fit and finish of these high-end production knives from china are at the same level or above spyderco taiwan and golden CO products. I don't think it's reasonable to ask spyderco to give you a titanium military for 30 bucks, just like it is not reasonable to ask Kizer to do the same.
ThatGuy333I got an F-bomb and it showed up in a ziplock bag labeled Kizer, with a made in China sticker on the bag. I think it is a bit misleading to put in the description that Matt MADE the knife. Designed yes, but putting that he made it right up top may cause someone not well versed in production versions of customs to think they are getting a custom knife vs a production blade. I researched Kizer and it sounds like they are one of the better chinese makers, amd BUT, I have some issue with sending China any more money than they already make from me on everything else they flood our market with. I'm curious, but am going to pass on this one for that reason. If I ever have opportunity to handle one, I MIGHT change my mind. For their prices, if using real S35V steel and quality titanium, its possible I could be swayed.
Ryan28801This was offered on here a month or two ago and I picked it up then. It's a fantastic knife and I don't think you'd be disappointed in it. Kizer has really stepped up in the packaging department as well. This arrived in a nice white box with another black slip top box inside of that, then inside that was the knife in a digital camo zipper pouch and a blue kizer cloth. I currently own 4 kizers, have owned 6 and have been impressed with all but one of their first designs.
B1gd47I have not carried or used this model yet, but I have a kizer intrepid that I have carried exclusively for a few weeks. I work outside around power poles and have used it to cut limbs and stuff to get access when my machete is out of reach plus normal day to day stuff food prep, opening packages and mail the usual. I sharpened it to around 17 dps and it has been holding up fantastically. Not to mention both this one and the intrepid are every bit as smooth as my 0562cf or any other flipper that I own.
ExHackThe Becker knives are completely different, they are utilitarian fixed blades in 1095, you can't seriously be comparing a basic 1095 and plastic outdoors knife to a titanium and S35VN framelock with ceramic bearings.
And aside from hangups on where it's made, what makes you think there is such a low ceiling on the quality of Chinese-made goods?
Kizer makes some great knives, they do a great job contouring their titanium, they don't mess around with their QC, and they are consistently priced about $80-120 less than comparable knives from other makers.
What more do you need from them before you show them a little respect?
