WorldbookThis is literally a CHINESE company. If you knew enough about the world of items you're looking at, you wouldn't have to ask that question. These are phenomenal knives, and I would put Kizer above most "American" brands who usually have knives in this price range made in China anyway. But the guys over at Kizer use a state of the art system for manufacturing their products, which give them unmatched fit, finish, and materials for their price brackets.

pyrobunnyIf you knew anything about world economics, you wouldn't buy Chinese products. Sorta like eating poison and talking about how good it tastes. It kills American jobs. That simple - nothing to argue about. I was asking for something very simple for Massdrop to do. All of the major knife online retailers list country of manufacturer. I am not the only person interested in this information. But I appreciated the fact that you might not be able to afford a quality knife and this is your only option.

Worldbook"It kills American jobs." So buying knives from a company that has NO relation to American companies, and also is a simple COMPETITION to American knife brands is "killing American jobs?" Listen man, no offense, but that makes literally no sense. That's like saying buying a Japanese sushi knife because of its quality is killing American jobs. It's not even just like it, it's the same damn argument. If you have a product produced ONLY in China, because it's a standalone Chinese brand, how is that taking American jobs? The same argument could be made against buying American products in foreign nations. Seriously, there is no logic behind that statement, especially considering these are ORIGINAL models, not clones. There is no loss to American jobs, only competition for price/performance ratios. These knives push American brands to drop prices on knives that are too expensive. And appreciating the fact that I might not be able to afford a "quality knife" is silly. Kizer MAKES quality knives. Just because they don't overcharge you doesn't make their products any lesser. And you're also saying that to someone who owns plenty of American made "quality" knives, and still prefers Chinese made in a lot of cases. I carry Chinese knives over my Benchmade, Spyderco, Buck, and other American knives BECAUSE THEY'RE JUST BETTER. But to a serious collector, it should be prior knowledge that Kizer is a Chinese brand, and if not, a simple google search should be warranted, because maybe you could learn something from it.

pyrobunnyMaybe we should get back to some fundamentals here. You do know that China is a communist country right? You do know that the majority of Chinese workers operate under conditions that are absolutely horrible. You do know that China employs child laborers. You do know that China kills and imprisons those that engage in free speech against the government. 47% of Chinese people live on less than $2 per day. So if you feel great about that wonderful Chinese quality - maybe you should consider the source. Each product you purchase encourages the Chinese government to continue their policies. And your argument about Kizer being a Chinese company and therefore does not take American jobs is nonsensical. Really. Will you work for $2 per day? But you maintain that China is just "competition" and that American knives are too expensive. Let me guess....you have never owned your own business. Just a guess. In a NON-communist country like America, a manufacturer has to abide by a tidal wave of laws and regulations to protect their employees including health and safety regulations, wage regulations, healthcare (thanks Nobama), OSHA, taxes, unemployment insurance, vacation, sick leave, 401K and the list goes on and on. But somehow we are charging too much for our USA made knives. You might want to use Google yourself and study Adam Smith. He wrote a little book on economics that became quite the rage some 240 years ago. So as you grab that Kizer that you are so proud of, maybe you will thank the 12 year old child or 75 year old grandmother that made it, (And please don't be naive enough to believe a video you saw on the internet that shows robust healthy men grinding out great work because those men are in the Chinese army) or send a donation to the unemployed American worker that lost his job because you want a "cheap" knife. Quality is more than how nice the product is......it is also a reflection of the company and person who made it. I will take the American product every time.

WorldbookSo, don't buy the knife. That'll fix everything, right? I respect that you don't want to buy products from China, but that argument is so simplistic as to be absolutely useless. Perhaps you stopped learning a while ago. China has the second fastest growing middle class in the world, second only to India. There is such an improvement in internal economics that development of "suburban" housing jobs, etc has in the past 20 years accomplished what took the USA forty-five years after WWII.
Yeah, Chinese officials may be "bad guys", but buying Chinese-made goods may not be as bad as you may think. A knife made by child labor and grandmothers? Highly unlikely. How about turning down the rhetoric and showing a little respect for other members' opinions?
