Textured Titanium Handle, S35VN Blade
Designed by Kim Ning, the Kizer Shoal—like its name suggests—looks like it was formed on the banks of an otherworldly beach. The titanium handle features diverging and converging dimples in all directions, creating a grippy texture in the hand. Icy blue hardware pairs well with the handle’s silvery sheen. Of course, a handle that nice needs and equally suitable blade to match. That’s why the Shoal is made with a 3.5-inch blade made from S35VN steel, giving it excellent edge retention and resistance to wear and corrosion. To deploy the blade, all that’s needed is a press on the jimped flipper tab. For storage in the pocket, it features a tip-up clip made from titanium, to boot.

A Closer Look at S35VN Steel
Developed by Crucible Industries (one of the leading manufacturers of specialty steels for the cutlery industry) and Chris Reeve (arguably the most famous knifemaker in the world), S35VN is perhaps the most balanced blade steel ever created in terms of all-around performance. It’s made through a process of powdered metallurgy known as CPM, which results in near perfect consistency in the distribution of carbides. Compared to conventional melting practices, the CPM process produces a steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, grindability, and toughness.
