Product Description
Measuring nearly a foot long, this tactical fixed blade is built for heavy duty jobs. It takes its name from a word that means “noticeable” or “standing out,” which, looking at the design, is fitting Read More

Looks like a comfortable grip. What’s the hole in the blade for? I saw a review on YouTube where, with very little pressure, a 1/4” piece of the blade tip broke off.

Drop huh? New name, same lack of useful information... What's the back side of the sheath like? Description says hip OR belt. How's that work without the belt? Primarily what I need to know is, can this sheath serve a southpaw?

SpecialEdSo that settles it. Thanks to excellent service provided by M..Drop members, all my questions have been addressed, and as a result, it's easy to see this is a really perfect product for my needs. Even better, they finally got a knife priced right. With FREE shipping, I'd have to have 2. However... Those members won't be able to help me when there's a problem with my order or my product. Which likely explains why I haven't placed an order in a very long time. Rather, why I've been placing orders elsewhere... I blame Drop primarily. I do think it's the younger consumers that have grown up where everything is a cereal box...you take what you want from any product, then discard it when it offers nothing further. Companies just don't have to be bothered, to subsist.

I'm generally OK with the China thing here. Whether by contracting with American companies or the Kizer, Rike and other home-grown brands' offerings, China has improved its very poor reputation for knife-making by orders of magnitude over the last few years. I also don't have a problem with the 1095 per se, but then I'm a Becker collector and their 1095 is plus Cro-Van, and Ka-Bar's heat treat department is second to none here in the States. I guess this knife would compete more or less directly with Becker's BK2, of which I have several going all the way back to Black Jack and Camillus, as well as three Ka-Bars. The Ka-Bars are definitely better materials and better country of origin, so as much as I like this knife, I'd probably never use it in favor of my Beckers. Nice to see a decent knife at a great price though. 🤙

The price is good, the reviews are decent. I wanted a big Bowie for SHTF but didn't want stupid cheap, yet not way expensive. Plus, this thing looks coooool, even though no one knows what that ring hole is about. Elephant in the discussion room: on YouTube, Prepper snapped off the tip. Well, knives are to be used laterally with the cutting edge doing the work, not as a pry bar or awl, and I've done the same thing myself with my old Kershaw, my SOG, and both my Gerber Diesels and my SOG PowerPliers needle tips. Small, thin metal will snap, be it carbon or stainless, and that's that. You regrind the tip to make it stronger, and you now have a customized item. This drop is one I should not have done, but I want it! ☮️✝️

Ghostinrags I also snapped off the tip, and I would 100% agree with you. It was definitely user error on my part and now I will just re-grind it. It’s a great knife for the price point.

Clay.MartinThe design of the blade is for beauty, not form or function. Solid, though! As you said, in use, our blades will snip the tip. Heck, leave her blunt on the end like a blue tick heeler. Still one hell of a blade, feels good in the hand, great balance. Love to your family, peace to your soul.

Good job on the pricing this time for Massdrop. BladeHQ wants well over $100 as do almost all others except for Amazon.com, they ask $74. I don't know why I am writing this, perhaps to convince myself that the deal is good enough to pull the trigger... I just can't decide. I guess its that almost Spyderco type hole in a weird place on the handle that is keeping me from making the decision. Its in the way for a forward chiol, but there is a tiny forward choil (weird), it has no real purpose, but it keeps the cutting edge farther away from where the index finger rests... Odd...

JakeCCEI wonder if the fake little bit quite a finger choil thingie would save your knuckles from getting busted if you slipped forward on a push cut through something? I dunno... I own the knife, can't figure out what I need something quite this big for lol

I believe you are correct. I am not used to using a lanyard that way, but it makes sense.

Well i just pulled the trigger on a green one after watching preparedmind101 youtube review. It did pretty well other than the tip test. the dlc coating held up very well After batoning and chopping etc as well as the edge. Yeah the tip broke pretty easy but i dont pry with my knives let alone the tip anyway. He recommended loctiting the handle scale screws when you get it which is a good idea anyway. That was reviewed at full retail of like $120. This drop is half the price shipped and is a no-brainer Imo. Talk about high value! Oh and the dlc coating looks rough in pics but feels smooth according to his review and wipes clean easy enough. Sold!

Thanks for the link. The article had some good points. Have you watched the review on youtube for the salient by preparedmind101? Its the only one in english pretty much and is long but he beats on the knife in the woods (and breaks the tip) but the texturing is definitely visible and he shows cleaning the blade with water after batoning and comes out nearly unmarred. It appears to be a high quality coating but i dont think a mention of why its textured was offered. If its that bad looking it can always be stripped off.

CdoyleI haven't watched it yet, no. But I'll look it up when I have some time I don't think it's terrible looking, just different.
