Product Description
This full-sized Kizer drop-point knife is designed in collaboration with TK Knives, a company known for its handcrafted blades that reference the traditions of Japanese masters. In keeping with that tradition, the blade is made from a high-carbon-content Japanese stainless steel known as VG-10 Read More
I own both the G10 and the Ti frame, S35VN blade-version of the Kyre (and also, interestingly, of the Flashbang, whch is also offered on MD right now).
Frankly, my advice is to skip this cheaper version and just et the "full dress" Ti version. It is an oustading for what I would call "medium-heavy" EDC use. Its incredibly comfortable in the hand, looks grear, and is < $200. One of my favorite pieces; I carry it more often than any other intended for a similar role
Wasn't totally enamored with the design at first, but it grew on me to the point that I decided I really need one in my life. :) The following video segment is what finally pushed me over the edge:

[EDIT: The embedded vid starts at 0:00; skip to 7:22 to get to the good stuff.]
Especially for the price, if the example I receive is even close to that level of fit and finish I'll be thrilled.
This is a bit of a must-buy at this price.
The good:
- Pretty. Really pretty. The profile on this is stunning. Every time I open it I am taken aback by how good it looks
- Inset steel liner means that the knife feels sturdy and weighty but is surprisingly thin. I hate overly thick knives. This is not one of them.
- Build quality is very good.
- Deploys very easily. Detente is excellent
The bad:
- I guess the scales aren't ideal? There is an ugly spot to allow for an ambidextrous pocket clip. Not much you can do about that though.
Loving this knife, jumped in on the last drop. Only thing I don't like is the clip -too stiff and too shallow. It's worse than my cheap kershaw and leatherman knives that are both offset to accommodate the width of a pocket hem. Does anyone know of a replacement clip that would fit the Kyre?
Got mine a few weeks and have been carrying it in rotation with my usual EDC stuff. It is a larger knife, but not so huge that it's uncomfortable. Action was stiff at first, but it's smoothed at well. Will post an update later with continued use.
Arrived not too long ago. Very nice action, Kizer does it well. First vg10 blade, have heard Kizer's is more than solid. Is there a factory sharpen option on this? When, down the road the inevitable occurs (I know it's supposed to be easy...)?
Also, any chance future drops can go s35vn blade route (but keep the linerlock layout)?
My Kizer Kyre just came in.
its seems pretty solid.
if this is a hollow grind blade it is the most shallow hollow grind i have ever seen - i cant tell its hollowed at all - it looks just like the flat grind on the Bestech Lion D2.
The Kyre and the Bestech lion are similar but i still like the action better than the Kyre - it doesnt have have bearing - swap out the washers for bearing and this would be just as good - not sure if i like the VG10 steel or the D2 better yet.
for the Price to value i would go with the Bestech Lion as it was 10$ cheaper but has bearings and just feels more solid.
Yet another fine Kizer offered to us by you, Massdrop.
Puuleeezzzee bring me the Megatherium at a true "group" price!
I love my Kala, and I'll be all over a Megatherium drop!!!
Thanx, Jim
(By the way, please make it an April release as my wife will allow it then!)
