This knife is extremely difficult to open, and requires a tremendous amount of force. I need to stop playing with it for now to avoid brusing the pads of my fingers. Other than that it seems nice so far.

TortoiseThunderWhen I push the flipper hard enough to open the knife one-handed, it leaves a dark red imprint in my finger. If I casually play with the knife throughout the day, like I do with most of my knives, the pad of my pointer finger then feels bruised the next day.

TueraiI have the same issue with the knife. The amount of force required to flip it open is excessive compared to any other knife I own. I have to apply such force that a 3 lined imprint is left on my finger momentarily and if the force isn't applied around just the right area the knife wont even open. I find it easier and more consistent opening the knife using my fingernail and pulling back and down on the 3rd rivet. Beautiful looking and feeling knife but the unreliability of the opening mechanism leaves me disappointed and far more inclined to use something I know is going to work everytime. Much prefer my Mcusta MC-12.

I will give them $1 more than the massdrop price! This is an incredible knife.

eksuenNot yet. I have had a lot of knives show up from Massdrop in the last couple weeks, so I kind of set the Vagnino aside until I get bored of the others (bubinga handle kwaiken & ferrum forge falcon). I will try dripping some oil in it first, if that doesn't help I might loosen the screw again. I almost feel like it's a design issue though. If I make sure to press my thumb straight down into the little cutout next to the blade so that my hand cannot put any squeezing pressure, it is a lot easier to open, but it feels like an unnatural way to hold it. Whereas how I normally would hold a flipper knife to open it, I hold it, and do end up applying some sideways squeezing pressure. In this knife, that seems to apply pressure directly to the pivot, and make it much harder to open.

TueraiShrug. For every knife I've had that was a tad difficult to open one handed right out of the box, I just loosened the pivot screw a little to resolve it.

TortoiseThunderidk why you keep trolling me here. Did you buy this knife? Can you honestly say that it opens with a reasonable amount of force when holding it naturally? If so, I would like a picture or video of how you are holding the knife when you open it.

TortoiseThunderFor real, I still can't bring myself to use it, it is so unpleasant. I might just watch a teardown and see how hard it would be to check all the tolerances and lubricate it more. I have like ~50-75 knives, I have been collecting them for years, this one absolutely sucks to open so far, and I had to stop playing with my flipper knives for a day or two because this one actually did leave my finger sore. I am not bullshitting you or trying to say anything bad about Kizer. I am just having a really bad experience with this knife and you being a jerk isn't helping.

TueraiI wonder if these are assembled by hand. I really doubt it's a tolerance issue and I'd be surprised if there was a torque spec for the pivot screw since what constitutes a good opening action can vary for users. I kind of see his point in that your comment can read like you are criticizing the knife without having yet tried the most basic adjustment. He's just going about it the wrong way. I don't think it's a design issue. I have both this knife and the Vanguard Velox 2, which has the same flipper design. Neither require excessive force to open and I think both actions are nice and smooth.

eksuenI tried loosening and tightening all screws, one-by-one. I added plenty of lube. I still cannot open the knife if any squeezing pressure is being applied to the handle.

TueraiIm a bit late to this but applying pressure to the handle would probably be forcing the detent in, making it harder to open. I have a knife that flips fine but if it press on the frame lock it becomes a lot more difficult.
