The design is indeed amazing though; great shape on that blade, plus the multi-tool, plus the sheath.
Great design package.
Steel is OK as long as you like sharpening often in the field, and good for hunter tasks because the 7Cr budget steel is well corrosion-resistant; but, again, soft.
Most people prefer to put the money purely towards ultra-reliable S30V steel rather than attractive design-package elements.
nodealThe steel works extremely well for this application. It is similar in chemistry to 440C or 440A. Cutco for instance uses 440A almost exclusively because it holds and edge very well for meat cutting but is still affordable. I've heard great results from folks on its performance in the field. One guy said that he processed seven hogs with it and had to do little to the blade to keep it's edge.
