Do you guys think this sub would be good enough to use as a reference sub for home studio dance and EDM production? If not, what would be considered a good entry to mid level reference sub?

JelvisOh, Magico and others (Wilson?) can set you back too. REL and JL have been in the business for a while and are well regarded. Martin-Logan has experience melding subwoofers with the fastest, most transparent main speakers - electrostatic. What it seems to come down to is using DSP to get a sub to work nicely in a room, one good enough to not degrade signals to the main speakers as it strips out the lows and sends them to the sub(s). I've had subs before and not liked them, now I'm looking again, but the old challenges remain. Strung bass and hand drum is good for evaluating. A fave of mine is "Tabla Tarang - Melody on Drums", Smithsonian Folkways CD, an amazing recording.
