Why would you aim the sub at the ground, that is simply awful design and no awareness to how subs actually work. The reason they do this is to make a cheap setup sound deeper and in fact all you are getting is distortion. Save your money and buy something real, at this price you can get entry level studio sub.

Front and down firing are for diffirent occasions. There is no right or wrong

Also, I have the 10" old version of this sub, and lack of bass has NEVER been a complaint from my guests. You should also know, there is a very large port on the rear.
