Sixty7flhA most certain "no" for side sleepers like myself, unfortunately.

JosephHDI have one of these folks. I bought it before I knew much about camping but was desperate to cut weight for a cycle touring trip. At the time I didn't realise that your mat/pad is a major part of keeping warm (insulating yourself from the cold ground). So used on it's own? This is a summer nights only mat. Verdict?: It does provide a surprising amount of comfort for what it is and if you're average build or over you can probably side sleep on it. (It's been years since I used it so I'll have a try tomorrow and report back). Some one mentioned the cut outs; they are placed where your contact points are not. So your contact points that do suffer from side sleeping numbness, the: hips, shoulders, head, rest strategically in the solid areas. In practice this actually works. FYI! It is only usable with the included pump which I don't think is included in the weight listing. Due to it's design the pad only takes the tiniest amount of air, 1 to 2 breaths! It requires the final pumps from the hand pump to give it usable structure (read: usable, not firm). Without the hand pump it's virtually flat when you apply weight to it. And I've tried my darnedest to make do with just my breath but no dice. This pad could be use in conjunction with a CCF (Closed Cell Foam) pad for winter use. The CCF insulates you from the ground and the pad stops you waking up from numb hips. Happy to answer and further questions. This is a very good price. I paid the RRP 3 years ago.

Sixty7flhI use the longer version of this one and I can sleep on my side just fine.
mountainslayerSame here. Full-length version is fine for side-sleeping (fine as in, it is obviously not a mattress, but it isn't any less comfortable than sleeping on your back).
