Hey fellow kayakers. Along with a larger diesel powered fishing boat, I own a Sea Eagle 465 Fast Track, and bought a couple of these Kokopelli's for four reasons: 1 - I use it mostly in salt water (fishing) in Suruga Bay, West Izu, west of Tokyo. Fiberglass should be more maintenance-free than the aluminum kit paddles. 2 - Looks easy to change to the feathering for when the wind picks up. 3 - The Fast Track has relatively small tubes and a width of 90 cm max., so the the 220-230 cm length should be easier to use than the the 250's that came with the kayak. 4 - Both myself and my significant other are 5'8" and about 5'2", so the Kokopelli lengths should be a better match. 5 - These 4 piece paddles have the smallest maximum length when disassembled — small enough to fit into the kayak's carry pack without sticking out. 6 - I waited till the last minute to order, driving to an outdoor goods shop and frantically scanning the prices for various 4 piece paddles that can be either bought in Japan or shipped to Japan. Accounting for shipping fees, nothing quite compared with the Kokopellis for even double the price. If they prove to be tough enough to handle a light chop and breeze on the open sea, about the only other thing I would have wished for would have been a bent angle shaft model to take some strain off the wrists. But after spending hours on google, I could not find even a single model of 4 piece paddles with a bent angle shaft — regardless of price. Looking forward to playing with these pups. Cheers from Tokyo — Steve
