Owned vario carbon for about 20 minutes. After first descent found one pole basket with tip cut off by the ski edge. Look at your used ski poles just above basket and think how long the carbon ones will stand. Also having racing baskets on Vario poles is mega stupid idea - one needs to buy large 10 cm comatible baskets somewhere else.

sky8massdropyou can always get a larger snowflake basket. I have been skiing for over 20 years and am not a good skier. With that being said... I have never been able to slice off a basket with the edge of my skis.

The Carbon Pure Black Vario poles would be perfect for snowshoeing as they are made of lightweight carbon and are adjustable.

I don't ski, only hike and snow shoe. What makes a pole made for skiing and one made trekking different?

gnarledcouleeAdjustability is the main difference between hiking poles and ski poles. Most ski poles tend to be fixed length while hiking poles are almost always adjustable. Also... ski baskets are always larger.
