TiffanyPoodleslideOkay, I'm a real dog geek and I just peeked at your profile. PLEASE tell me more about your dogs! When I was around 14 or so I helped a lady handle her dogs ringside and it was the best time of my life, although I haven't been able to truly get into showing. The breeder I met was Lisa Allen I believe. She was showing Ch. Pinnacle's Pinball Wizard that day. Truly amazing dog!

Its amazing how many there are, yet how few, IYKWIM.
It's like, every place I take them, people are like, "WHAT KIND OF DOG IS THAT?" and when you tell them, they've never really heard of it, they ask me if that's the "same dog as on Frazier?" all the time.

I am partner on several dogs =Breeder of Merit with our kennel. One of my home girls is an Int'l points ch. Her son lives in S. America right now, cleaning up in S and Central Am, rings, after he got his Am. Ch. at the tender age of 10 months...so we have something pretty special going on, I think. That guy's sister lives with me too, so I have Mum and daughter- she has a NON-GENETIC leg malformation, (squished in utero, most likely), that, while preventing her from showing, doesn't prevent her from being a GLORIOUS terrier terrorist of all things mouse and chipmunk and squirrel and so on and so on. She is working on her Therapy Dog certificate, hanging out at the hospital and the Elder Care facility out here. The guy who digs on Koss ear-phones is a SFT rescue; he came from an abuse situation, had some super anxiety issues when he came here. But now he's Mr. "Put Stuff on My Head!" because he's just cool like that. I keep a rescue because I don't think one should do purebred show dogs without paying back to the breed animals who need help. He likes being vacuumed. YES. VACUUMED. I also have a dogpound adoptee, a Chow X Shepherd that was destined for death 12 years ago. I always ALWAYS keep at least one pound-rescue... I also believe that we shouldn't be breeding show dogs if we don't be taking on dogs who spend their lives in shelters. This is true; Upon the death of my pound-dog, immediately after the burial out under the trees on my horse farm, I am off to the pound to snag the next hapless dog needing a forever home. Since I have rather an ideal set-up for all things doggy, I refuse to not use that to benefit animals who just got stuck with the consequences of some humans making bad decisions.... ;) Even one of my horses is a rescue guy.
Guess I'm a sucker for a hard-luck story...

TiffanyPoodleslideThanks for telling me about your dogs! I'm not a SFT person by any means but I DO think they are very neat. I have a Chihuahua mix from Craigslist and a Papillon from the shelter. I'd like to get a show quality Chihuahua one day and casually show in conformation, but we'll see. Afghans are on the list too, but that grooming... Do you have more pics of your dogs? They're beautiful!

I just figured, since you helped handle a very nice SFT champ, that you might be into them. Chihuahua's are funny little dogs.... I like them. Do yourself a BIG favour; make certain that you do MUCH homework on any show-dog/dog-showing efforts that you want to make. Always a lot of work,(but you knew that, most likely), and that you truly understand the breed-specific needs of your chosen breed. I often advise for folks to "stick with what you know", because it often saves grief in the long road. At least seek the solid advice of somebody who's already in it up to their neck. :-D Of course, if you are not carefully breeding your animals, neuter/spay is the way to go, less dogs to wind up on Craigs or at the pound. ;)
I don't have the time to show...that's what my kennel "Boss" does. I just get to have the good part; where they live with me, chase each other about, kill some stuff in the barn, dig holes in the yard, and sleep on the bed.

you should consider some of the other stuff, like agility.
Then you don't need to worry so much about having an uber-expensive conformation dog.
AKC has a pretty big performance gig going these days, you should check that out.
Agility competitions are by SIZE.
So your little Chi wouldn't be going against a border collie, FYI.

Unfortunately I have some physical issues that make me much slower than my dog, but my Chihuahua mix really enjoys agility when we get out and do it (casually). I love watching too, I get about as fired up as a redneck during the superbowl LOL. I played around with canine parkour for a while too, but we never got great at it. My current two are getting a bit old to try and do competition but I wouldn't be opposed to like, Flyball or obedience.. something I can keep up with. I still have a few years to figure out what I want to do! (They are 9 and 11.)

Mine are "burning in." But the immediate sound, fresh from the box, has nice detail, all ranges are adequately present, without any one range being overbearing,thready,or shrill. As usual, a decent amp does improve detail and "heft" to the sound produced.
I feel that these will be nice for listening to acoustic and classical music while doing homework or reading...activities that have you sitting still enough to feel secure wearing these so you can forget about how they feel and hear the quite nice soundstage that these ear speakers have to offer. Because that's kind of what they are; little ear speakers aimed AT your ear canal.
I suspect that adequate burn in will offer another layer of sound quality to my experience... so I may pop back here for a more detailed comment about the sound repro after a week of playing with them.
Summary,(for now); these are a decent set of eccentrically built* ON EAR monitors that you DON'T buy for fit or looks- rather one buys them for the open soundstage offered at the portable level.But only the kind of portability that has you sitting down while wearing them,(not gonna be running in THESE!), and not stressing the fit, or the SKINNY little wires,(I too find them flimsy and lesser, as cabling goes), and using a portable amp for the fuller sound that this widened soundstage makes desireable. They sound NICE. But when you are talking earphones, full-size over-ear all the way down to the smallest, deep IEMS, FIT and COMFORT of wear are HUGE issues... if uncomfortable or wonky enough, you'll never wear them. No matter how good they sound.
Unless these develop a sound that is nothing short of divine....they will likely end up in my "curiosities" box. I'm certainly CURIOUS about what KOSS was thinking, and who's ears they were trying them on, when they designed these WEIRD ear-speakers.... 5-6 on my 0 to 10 scale....but only because they sound pretty good.
* I was actually able to place these on the ears of my fox-terrier more handily than on myself, at first go, LOL!
