I just got mine. I like the box but one of the wire ear pieces was rattling around and the wire was wound up rather odd. The carrying case and "spool" look nice. I have not tried them yet. I can see where people have such varying reviews. They are hard, at first to get fit right. If not in far enough, they will be bright and thin. If you get them to sit in further with the bass drivers closer in, they can sound rather dark. It is hard to get them placed exactly the same way twice and they do not like my glasses. I have only used the original, medium earhooks. I may try the small ones although my ears are large - ish. They are not neutral. However, they are also quite revealing of issues in the source and recording. It is difficult to place blame for bad sounding things on the phones or the recording methods. I know I will need to spend more time with them to get a final judgement. They do like my O2 rather than running them straight out of my V20. They are then more revealing and more neutral sounding. Fit is a lot of what will make or break these for you. Again, look at the reviews and comments. They are all over the board as far as describing how these sound. I do need to find a way to get them to sit just right, every time, without falling off. Then, get them broken in. Stay tuned! Update, 02/22/19. I have gone with the large hooks. When I put on the phones, I slide the hooks under the bows of my glasses as they go over my ear. They do need to angle down a little from back to front. Bass is strong. Mids are at about the right level. They are slightly dark sounding but there is a brightness peak that can make certain vocals sound harsh. This does seem to be improving as they break in. They are not quite as neutral as Sennheisers. They are quite revealing. Bass is strong but not the greatest sub bass extension. This does vary with fit. They do like my O2 (1X gain). Transients are fast. There is some disconnect between the bass and the rest of the range. Update 02/26/19. I have them plugged straight into mt V20 and will admit they sound good but the O2 amp controls them a lot better. The sound stage does not get as wide as my HD 555/595, but the imaging is more focused. There is more depth, front to back, as well. I wish the cord were thicker. These are good phones but why hasn't Koss made an updated version to fix fit issues, better and possibly removable cord, better bass extension, and a bit more neutral sound. I tried it with my CMOY amp and they work very well with that amp.
